IA Preseason All-State: Event Preview

Prep Baseball Report Iowa

On Sunday, March 11th, Prep Baseball Report will return to SportsPlex West in Waukee, IA and hold it's 4th annual IA Preseason All-State event. Perennially, this event gives us an additional opportunity to take a closer view at a number of Iowa's top talents we have seen prior and introduces us to some under-the-radar and underclass prospects that have made considerable strides recently.

Over the last three years; over 150 prospects who attended the IA Preseason All-State event have committed to colleges to continue their baseball career. This is year should be no different. The IA Preseason All-State historically brings out the most talented prospects in the state. Here’s this year’s roster: CLICK HERE

Our staff is eagerly anticipating seeing a strong 2019 group highlighted by 2017 Future Games participants in Wichita State commit Sam Goodman (Western Dubuque) and uncommitted OF Josh Fitzgerald (Mason City Newman). Also in attendance will be recent South Dakota State commit Nathan Steenblock (Dowling Catholic). The roster is stacked with many 2019 players in the state who are currently ranked- and will look to make an additional impression on college coaches with their progress.

2019 Josh Fitzgerald, OF, Mason City Newman

2019 Nathan Steenblock, OF/LHP, Dowling Catholic

This event has alway yielded some of the top freshman and sophomore talent in the state as well. LSU commit, Ian Moller (Dubuque Wahlert)- who will be in attendance this year as well- became the first 2021 grad in the Iowa class to make a college commitment.

With PBR Future Game invites on the horizon, our staff is always on the lookout. Keep a look out for names like 2020 grads Kaden Dewey (Waverly-Shell Rock), Tucker Christensen (Norwalk), Alec Patino (Sioux City East), Andrue Henry (Dubuque Sr.) and Casey Young (Winterset), all of whom are strong prospects in their class, as well as several others we anticipate seeing jumps from.

Iowa's 2021 class shows early signs of being extremely talented as well, with a solid contingent of players who should start receiving early recruiting interest after this event.
