Michigan often sends players out of state to continue their college careers, so it is only fitting to preview some of the imports who are planning to come to Michigan. This next installment reports which PBR players are headed into Michigan Dvision I programs from surrounding PBR states.  In fact, we have 10 PBR athletes to talk about. Ohio produced 5, Illinois 3 and Indiana 2.

First, PBR Ohio, which will be sending 3 athletes to Oakland University: Kendall Colvin(Kenton Ridge HS), Tyler Pagano(Pickerington North HS) and Zach Sterry(Lexington HS).  Colvin has the makings of a power right-handed arm. He is 6-4 240 and throws a heavy fastball in the mid 80’s. Colvin’s ability to repeat his delivery consistently will help him adjust to the next level. Pagano has the ability to be a two- way player for Oakland. Running the 60 in 6.75 sec. Pagano is more than capable to running down fly balls in the outfield.  Pagano compliments his mid 80’s fastball with a great work ethic. Sterry is heading to Oakland with a polished bat. He is an aggressive left-handed hitter with power to all fields. Sterry has also been clocked at 6.9 sec. on the 60 yard dash.  PBR Ohio will also export Jordan Grosjean (Clay HS) to Central Michigan University and Judah Wollenburg (Ottawa Hills HS) to Eastern Michigan University.  Grosjean is a 6-4, 204 lb. right-handed pitcher who will provide the Chippewa’s with an upper 80’s fastball and tremendous upside.  Wollenburg is an athletic infielder from Toledo, OH who will bring a lot of talent to the Eagle’s next fall.  Wollenburg is a switch hitter who was clocked at 6.75 sec. running the 60 yard dash. Wollenburg has a strong arm and a bat that produced a .457 average with 6 homeruns as a junior.   

Second, PBR Illinois will be sending two athletes to the University of Michigan: Nick Kowalczuk(Oak Park- River Forest), Keith Lehmann(Lyons Township HS).  In addition to those two PBR Illinois will be exporting Dan Durkin (Victor J. Andrew HS) to Michigan State University.  The Wolverines landed a pair of players with two-way potential. Kowalczuk is beginning to fill out an impressive 6-3 210 lb frame. Kowalczuk hits the ball with authority and has that slight upper cut common with power hitters. He also has a mid 80’s fb and is solid defensively at first base.  Lehmann is smaller in stature than Kowalczuk but carries a very well rounded skill set. He is the 5^th rank player in the state of Illinois. Lehmann has a compact swing and a strong arm. Off the mound he is 87-90 with his FB and has a 12/6 type breaking ball that is 20 MPH slower than is fastball.  Durkin who will be heading to Michigan State University and will provide the Spartan’s with a left side of the infield type player and quality left-handed bat.  Durkin set a school record batting .523. He is a tough kid who also starred in football and will bring a toughness that will help in transition to the next level.   

Last, we have PBR Indiana who will see Danny Ayers (Columbus North HS) to Western Michigan University and MacLeod Lozer (North Central HS) to the University of Michigan.   Ayers ranked 7^th overall in the state of Indiana. Ayers is a 6-3 left-hander with a 86-89 MPH fastball and tight breaking ball. Ayers possess the type of arm that can make an impact right away.  Lozer is an athletic shortstop with quick feet. Lozer is a balanced hitter whose ceiling will continue to rise as heads to the next level.
