Initial Kentucky Class of 2014 Player Rankings

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

After a few months of evaluating players and compiling information, we are releasing the initial Kentucky Class of 2014 player rankings which includes the top 25 players in the state.

As we continue to see players at our events, compile more information, and see players on the high school fields, we will re-visit and expand the rankings.

Lincoln Henzman, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound RHP from Lexington Christian Academy is at the head of the class.  Henzman features a fastball that tops out at 88 Mph with a projectable body that will add more velocity in the future.

John Hisel, a 6-foot-5, 170-pound RHP from East Jessamine HS, sits in the two spot.  Hisel shows an 84-87 Mph fastball with good secondary pitches, especially a change up he throws with great arm action.  Hisel has tremendous upside with a very projectable frame.

Devin Hairston, a 5-foot-7, 145-pound MIF from Tates Creek HS, is ranked number three.  Hairston is extremely athletic with smooth infield actions and good arm strength.  He shows quick hands and very good bat speed at the plate with some pop in his bat.  Hairston was the first 2014 player in the state to commit when he committed to Kentucky in early September.

The remaining top 10 is rounded out by Frankfort SS Collin Harris , Covington Catholic 1B Grant Schreiver, Beechwood SS/RHP Jason Suchanek, Lexington Catholic C Riley Jackson, Boyle County RHP Micah Miniard, Mayfield 2B/3B Stuart Mills, and Henry Clay SS Wyatt Terrell.
