Inside The Rankings: 2017 Newcomers

Yesterday we broke down some of the top players in 2017 class who have made the biggest jump in the rankings over the past few months. Some of these players grew a couple of inches, gained a few ticks in velocity, or got a little bit faster. Today, we will be looking at a couple of players who were not in the rankings at all a few months back and highlight what they did to jump into the top 100.

Christian Robinson, OF, Viera HS
You may recall that we mentioned Robinson in the initial 2017 rankings article this week because of his incredible feat of being reclassified from a 2018 to now being a 2017 and being ranked in the top five in the state. The Florida commit has proven to be able to hit high level pitching since his freshman year and he already shows impressive power for a high school player. Combine his 6-foot-3 frame, advanced power, plus arm strength, and above average speed, and you get a rare prospect who is a potential five tool player in the future. Look for Robinson to be a serious draft prospect this time next year.

Kyle Bachle, RHP/OF, Venice HS
Bachle is a talented two-way player who can really swing the bat and runs a 6.8 in the 60 yard dash. As a position player, he is a solid prospect who can definitely play at the next level, but his defense and bat is not what makes Bachle stick out and is not what caused him to get thrown into the rankings as the number 66 prospect in Florida. From the mound, Bachle possesses a long, loose arm action that produces an 87-91 mph and a sharp 78 mph slider that is very difficult on righties. He stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds and is the closer for Venice HS—one of the better programs in the state. Bachle also shows a solid changeup and looks as if he is shaping up to be an intriguing pitching prospect. He is already one of the top uncommitted arms in Florida, but if he focuses solely on pitching and adds 2-3 mph to his fastball, do not be surprised if he becomes a draft prospect in 2017.
