Inside the Recruitment: '15 C Nick Rose to Shawnee State

Nick Rose, C, Olentangy HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Shawnee State?

Rose:  I chose Shawnee State because of the small school atmosphere.  Shawnee has a great Sports Management program and it’s relatively close to home.  I also chose Shawnee because of the opportunity to contribute to the baseball team as a freshman.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Rose: Brescia University, La Roche College, University of Rio Grande, Central Penn College, Capital University, and Slippery Rock University.

PBR: Coach Moore was recently named the new coach of the Bears.  How does it feel to be a part of his era as the coach?

Rose: I am very excited about the opportunity to play for Coach Moore.  I look forward to being part of this new era with the Bears!

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Rose: I am continuing to develop my skills and my strength.  I hope to be able to help my high school team win a conference championship this season.

PBR: Was the recruiting process what you expected?

Rose: The recruiting process was very time consuming and difficult at times but definitely worth it.  I was lucky because I had a lot of help from my parents.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Rose: I play for the Ohio Surge.  My most memorable moment this summer was hitting a walk off single to drive in the game winning run in the Buckeye Elite tournament on the Ohio State field.

PBR:  What person has the greatest impact on your baseball career and why?

Rose: My dad has had the greatest impact on my baseball career.  He has helped guide me and coach me.  He pitched for East Carolina University and was drafted by the Montreal Expos.

PBR: What were your stats this past spring?
