Dalton Earich, RHP, Manchester HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Youngstown State?

Earich: I chose YSU because it is close enough to home so my family and friends can come see me play, as well as I like the idea of being the first recruiting class under a new coach.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Earich: I was also considering Montevallo, Walsh, and Buffalo

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your relationship develop?

Earich: The coaches saw me in a local tournament, the relationship developed after my visit in the way that the coaches seemed interested in my life and my other sports. The coaching staff and I stayed in touch and communicated frequently.

PBR: Youngstown State has just hired a new coaching staff.  How does it feel to be a part of a new era of Penguin baseball?

Earich: The new coaching staff was a big plus for me. I feel like being the first recruiting class under the coaches is a great chance to be the first players of a new legacy.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Earich: It is very exciting. Looking forward to what it will be like to live the D1 student/athlete life.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Earich: I play for Ohio Elite McNerney. My favorite moment from summer was throwing a complete game shut out in the perfect game tournament in Georgia.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Earich: My father had the biggest impact. He was the one who pushed me to better myself and always out me with the best coaches to further my skills.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?

Earich: 7 wins 1 loss on the mound, 1.31 ERA in 56 innings pitched.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Earich: Andrew McFadden was the toughest. He is on my high school team and we have played together all our lives. He's one of those kids no matter what you throw he always puts the ball in play.
