Kentucky Weekend Roundup: Power 25 Scores and Highlights

It was somewhat damp and chilly for the first weekend of baseball around the state. Below we take a look at the scores and highlights from the Power 25 Friday night/Saturday action in the first Weekend Roundup of the season.

Friday Power 25 Scores

#2 Danville 15, Rockcastle Co 5
Brady Baxter went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI, Sam Matherly went 2-for-4 with a HR and 4 RBI, Brady Morese went 2-for-3 with a double, Logan Smothers went 2-for-3 with a HR and 3 RBI, and Jack Simpson homered and drove in 4 runs in the win. Baxter and Simpson combined for 13 K’s over 5 innings on the mound.

#3 Trinity 10, Butler 0
Aidan Ecken went 2-for-3 with a triple, HR, and 4 RBI, Chase Armstrong went 2-for-3 with a double, HR, and 2 RBI, and Korbyn Dickerson had 2 hits and 2 RBI to pace the Rocks offense. Paul Osting worked 4 scoreless innings with 8 K’s to pick up the win.

#5 McCracken Co 3, #16 Hopkinsville 2
Nate Lang, who went 3-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI, won it for the Mustangs with a walkoff single in the 7th. Jude Farley collected 2 hits, and Jack Bennett, Miller Green, and Zach Sims all tripled in the win. Bennett also worked 6 innings, allowing 2 runs with 9 K’s and Calen Ehling struck out the side in the 7th to pick up the win.

#6 Owensboro Catholic 9, Breckinridge Co 1
Sam McFarland went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, Luke Evans collected 2 hits, and Braden Mundy tripled and drove in 2 runs in the win. Grant Parson worked 4 scoreless innings to record the victory on the mound.

#10 Lafayette 6, Mercer Co 2
Ben Prather homered and drove in 2 runs, Burkley Bounds went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, Owen Jenkins went 2-for-3 with a double, and Braden Kettenring tripled in the victory. Carter Owens picked up the win with 4 scoreless innings and 7 K’s. Jacob Dilday scattered 8 hits over 6 innings with 10 K’s in the Hop-Town loss.

#12 Paducah Tilghman 11, Hardin Co, IL 1
John Kiebler went 3-for-4 with a double, HR, and 2 RBI, Leyton Patterson went 2-for-4 with a triple, HR, and 3 RBI, Gage Griggs collected 2 hits, and Gunner Massey doubled and drove in 2 runs. Massey also picked up the win allowing just 2 hits and 1 run with 8 K’s in 5 innings of work.

#17 Lawrence Co 5, Huntington, WV. 4
Blue Fletcher and Nick Collinsworth each collected 2 hits, and Bryce Blevins picked up the win allowing no earned runs with 9 K’s in 6 innings of work.

#22 Tates Creek 10, West Jessamine 1
Matthew Persinger went 3-for-3 with 2 triples and 3 RBI, Isaac Tencza went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI to lead the Tates Creek offense. Carson Van Haaren allowed just 2 hits and 1 run over 4 innings to pick up the win.

Saturday Power 25 Scores

#3 Trinity 4, #6 Owensboro Catholic 3
Korbyn Dickerson went 2-for-2 with a HR and 2 RBI, and Dane Morrow went 3-for-3 as Trinity came from behind for the win. Robbie Reed picked up the win in relief working 2.2 scoreless innings with 3 K’s.

Great Crossing 16, #7 LCA 5
Grant Stewart went 2-for-3 with a double, HR, and 4 RBI, Peyton Harris went 3-for-4 with 2 triples and 4 RBI, Mason Wiley doubled twice with a RBI, and Nate Adkins had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs. Nathan Beaven worked 4 innings with 6 K’s to pick up the win.

#7 LCA 8, Corbin 1
Matthew Maggard went 3-for-4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI and Mac Crosbie went 2-for-4 with a HR and 4 RBI to lead the Eagles. Will Orberson picked up the win working 5 innings allowing 1 run with 4 K’s.

John Kiebler went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, Zion LaGrone went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Jaylen Seay went 2-for-2 with a triple and RBI in the win.

#14 Bowling Green 13, Franklin-Simpson 3
Nathaniel Roof went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI, Patrick Forbes went 3-for-5 with a double, Dom Davis had 2 hits and a RBI, and Trent Warden went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Dawson Hall picked up the win allowing 1 earned run with 7 K’s over 4 innings.

#15 Lyon Co 7, Murray 5
Gunnar Bingham went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles, John Bingham went 3-for-4 with a RBI, and Turner Hurst, Austin Spears, and Jackson Shoulders each collected 2 hits while Peyton Carney doubled and drove in 2 runs. Corey Cissell picked up the win.

#18 Oldham County 14, #20 Central Hardin 1
Nicholas Willey went 3-for-5 with a HR and 4 RBI, and Drue Osbourne went 2-for-3 with a HR and 2 RBI to lead the Colonels offense. Jack Harris allowed 1 unearned run with 7 K’s over 3 innings for the win.

#22 Tates Creek 13, #13 Henry Clay 2
Isaac Tencza went 4-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Braxton Brinegar went 3-for-5 with a double and RBI, and Cash Doolin went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI in the rout. David Castleberry worked 5 strong innings allowing 1 run with 6 K’s for the win.

#23 Russell Co 12, Barren Co 2
Evan Hammond went 3-for-3 with a double, HR, and 3 RBI, Aidan Antle went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, Nick Aaron added 2 hits and 2 RBI, and Isaac Roy went 2-for-2 in the win. Cody Luttrell worked 2.1 scoreless innings with 6 K’s.
