Knights Scout Day Class of 2020

After a long layoff, baseball is back underway in the state of Louisiana. Players and coaches have been looking forward to this for a while and it was good to get back to baseball this past weekend. The Louisiana Knights held their opening weekend workouts and invited our staff over to take it all in. The Knights have multiple teams across the 14U through 18U age groups and we were able to get a solid look at them all over the course of the 4 day event. The organization is Louisiana based but represents several states throughout the southeast.

We will wrap up our coverage of the Knights opening weekend by giving a quick report on their prospects in the 2020 class. This class within the Knights program is composed of 30+ committed players dispersed between two rosters. The class is also a handful of uncommitted players that are still on the board for programs looking for a late addition to their 2020-21 roster. Here are a few of their top 2021 prospects in the program.

2020 RHP Willy Flynn - Riverdale HS

A 6-foot-2, 150-pound Right-handed pitcher with long, loose arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and easy effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 82-85 mph with hard run. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape and was thrown with fastball arm speed at 67-72 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and fade action at 72-74 mph.

2020 INF/RHP Dillon Sabathe - Northshore HS

Right-handed pitcher throwing from high-¾ release with fluid, repeatable rhythm. Works down the mound with in-line direction finishing in athletic position slightly off to first base side. Fastball was commanded around the zone at 78-80 mph. Breaking ball showed near 12/6 shape with depth at 66-67 mph while changeup was thrown at 70-71 mph.

2020 RHP Wesley Callegan - Catholic HS (BR)

Right-handed pitcher throwing from ¾ release, with solid balance, loose arm stroke and easy effort in delivery. Fluid rhythm with deception in delivery, level shoulders, in-line direction and finishes athletically. Scattered the zone with fastballs that sat 79-83. Breaking ball showed early 11/5-shape with near fastball arm speed at 68-70 mph while change up showed slight fading action at 76-78 mph.

2020 RHP Jarrett Fontenot - Dunham HS

Right-handed pitcher with medium arm action into high-¾ release, smooth rhythm and regular effort. Athletic, slightly rotational delivery with level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square, and finishes athletically. Fastball sat 76-77 mph with some arm side action and average command. Breaking ball showed 11/5-shape with early break, solid spin, depth and near fastball arm speed. Change up showed slight arm side action with near fastball arm speed.
