Welcome to Looking Ahead, our look at key matchups that will occur in the coming week from around the Commonwealth. Without further ado, here are games that we find to be especially interesting in the coming week:

LOOKING AHEAD: APRIL 23-28

No. 11 St. John’s College vs. No. 6 Paul VI Catholic, Tuesday April 24
The second meeting between these two will be on Tuesday with first place in the WCAC on the line. St. John's won the first meeting in March, 4-3, and the Cadets would essentially lock up the top spot in the regular season with a win. Look for the Panthers to send senior Thomas Russell (Navy) to the mound with Cortland Lawson (Tennessee) and Carter Spivey (East Carolina) available as well. Look for the Cadets to counter with either Cooper Adams (UMBC) or Jacob Steinberg.

No. 24 Jamestown vs. No. 15 Grafton, Friday April 27
This matchup between top Tidewater teams will be their second meeting of the spring with Grafton having won the first matchup in a blowout, handing Jamestown its only loss so far this spring. Both teams have tough out-of-district games during the week before their Friday night rematch. A player to watch in this game is Grafton junior Zachary Wojnarowksi.
