MOKAN Top Prospects: Right Handed Pitchers Edition

The MoKan Top Prospect Games took place on June 22nd at Creekside Baseball Park in Parkville Missouri. A full event of 53 players, including some of the top players from the 2022 graduating class, showed out with some eye popping numbers.  Today we take an in depth breakdown of all the right handed pitchers that attended.  There were 21 arms from the right side that we take a deep look at their body profile, arm slot, delivery notes, velocities and pitch shapes.

Aiden Brooks 3B / RHP / Park Hill, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP

Body: 6-foot, 185-pound athletic and proportional build with room for more strength and size in the frame in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style delivery with the feet around the rubber working to a quick and high balance point.  Heavy coil with the hips at the top of the balance point.  Shows the ability to work a slide step out of the stretch.  Hands break from the glove as the plant leg works down the slope.  Effort in the delivery with a strong head whip at release.

Arm Action:  High ¾ arm slot with a longer arm action and release.

FB: 74-80 mph, slight cutting action with good command to the glove side.

CB: 64-67 mph, big and loopy action with developing spin.

CH: 70-74 mph, less spin with good arm side fading action and depth to the bottom of the zone.

Cameron Christy RHP / Shawnee Mission Northwest , KS / 2022

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP

Body: 6-foot-2, 195-pound physical and mature frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork to get the pivot turned quickly and into a high and quick balance point.  Tall and fall style motion down the mound into a soft plant leg.  Works from the center of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with strong body rotation off the plant leg.  Hands break at the top of the balance point and does a good job of repeating mechanics.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action. 

FB: 70-78 mph, some arm side run and sinking action. 

SL: 64-69 mph, tight shape with two plane action and developing spin.

Ryker Curry RHP / SS / Iola, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot-1, 165-pound lean and athletic frame with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound worked exclusively out of the stretch.  Hands are set high on the back shoulder with a quick break out of the glove.  Presets the weight into a bent back leg and gets solide push off the rubber.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides slightly open.  Pulls head out of the way at release but maintains good direction down the slope.  Effort in the delivery.  Shows the ability to repeat mechanics from the stretch and is quick to the plate.

Arm Action:  High ¾ arm slot with a short/clean arm action and good hand speed.

FB: 85-86 mph, more of a driving fastball with good command to the glove side.

SL: 75-76 mph, late depth with heavy east/west action and good spin.

CH: 80 mph, kills the spin with some arm side fade and ability to land it in the zone.

Jake Daneff SS / RHP / Park Hill, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: MIF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-11, 160-pound lean and athletic frame with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a high balance point. Slight coil of the hips at the top of the balance point with an up tempo rhythm.  Maintains athleticism throughout the delivery with good push off the back leg into a firm plant leg.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally slightly closed creating tough angles on hitters.  Good balance throughout the delivery.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with clean arm action and good hand speed.

FB: 85-88 mph, strong riding life through the top of the zone with some slight arm side run.

SL: 75-76 mph, tight spin with slight cutting action.

CB: 74-77 mph, Short and late life with good shape and hand speed.

CH: 75-78 mph, kills the spin well and has solid fading action to the arm side.


Wyatt Foley OF / RHP / Girard, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-11, 170-pound athletic and lean build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses an uptempo pace and simple footwork around the rubber working to a high balance point.  Slight crunch in the posture at the top of the balance point with a tall and fall style motion down the slope.  Body leans forward at balance point.  Hands break quickly out of the glove at the top of the balance point.  Effort in the delivery while maintaining good athleticism.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with strong body rotation off of a firm plant leg.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a quick and short arm action with good hand speed.

FB: 85-87 mph, mostly straight action with solid spin and tilt.

SL: 70-71 mph, short cutting action with some late depth. 

CB: 70-71 mph, bigger action with two-plane break.

CH: 69-70 mph, strong arm side fading action with depth.

Christopher Gulley OF / RHP / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-10, 150-pound lean and developing frame with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a high balance point.  Hand breaks from the glove at the top of the balance point out and away from the chest.  Strong lay back on the arm with the chest working towards the plate.  Slight coil with the hips and shoulders at balance point.  Tall and fall style down the slope working to a firm front leg.  Maintains balance throughout the delivery into an athletic finish.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action.

FB: 72-74 mph, mostly straight action with some riding hop through the zone.

SL: 60-62 mph, slight cutting action with short depth. 

CB: 64-65 mph, rolling action with early break and developing spin. 

CH: 67-68 mph, mostly straight action with slight depth.

Samuel Hunt RHP / 3B / Lees Summit West, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP

Body: 5-foot-11, 175-pound athletic and stocky build.

Delivery: On the mound works exclusively out of the stretch.  Comes set with feet spread apart and rocks into the back leg to get solid push off the rubber.  Works to a mid height balance point with quick rhythm and tempo.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum landing with a firm front leg and strong rotation of the body off the plant leg at release.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short/quick arm action.

FB: 83-86 mph, heavy arm side run with strong spin metrics.

SL: 67-75 mph, big two-plane shape with really strong spin up to 2553 RPM.

CH: 76 mph, heavy arm side fade with good hand speed.

Christopher Kemp 2B / RHP / Park Hill, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: MIF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-10, 165-pound lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style delivery with a quick pace and tempo.  Works to a mid height balance point with hands working up and down with the lower half.  Slight crunch in the upper body posture at the top of the balance point with the hands breaking from the glove out and away from the body.  Shows the ability to work from a slide step.  Repeats the delivery well.  

Arm Action: ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action.

FB: 77-81 mph, Heavy arm side run and sinking action.

SL: 67-70 mph, slurvy shape with good east/west action and late depth. 

CH: 75-76 mph, good hand speed and some arm side fading action.

Hayden Klein RHP / C / Park Hill South, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: C/RHP

Body: 6-foot, 190-pound strong and athletic build.

Delivery: On the mound uses a step behind the rubber technique around the rubber working to a strong pivot foot.  Works to a mid height balance point with shoulder and hip coil at the top of the balance point.  Slight stall out at the top of the delivery.  Heavy momentum down the slope with sink into the back leg and short push off the rubber.  Lands to a soft plant leg with heavy body rotation at release.   Effort in the delivery.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action.

FB: 81-83 mph, arm side run with good tilting action.

CB: 64-65 mph, loose 12/6 shape with developing spin.

Benjamin Laird RHP / 1B / Seaman , KS / 2022

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot-3, 210-pound large and physical frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber.  Sets up pre turned to an easy pivot position.  Works to a high balance point with a strong weight stack onto the back leg.  Tall and fall stall momentum down the slope.  Easy rhythm and maintains balance throughout the delivery.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a firm plant leg.  Hands work quietly up and down with the lower half and break from the glove at the top of the balance point.  Slight hip and shoulder coil at balance point.

Arm Action: RH. High ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action.

FB: 80-81 mph, mostly straight action with solid spin metrics.

SL: 67-69 mph, big time depth with two-plane shape and tight spin.

CT: 77-80 mph,  short action with a feel for landing in the zone.

Russell Lucas III SS / RHP / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: MIF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-9, 185-pound stocky build with present strength especially in the lower half.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Slow and methodical rhythm and repeats the delivery well.  Hands break from the glove down around the belt.  Slight coil with the hips and shoulders at the top of the balance point.  Lands to a slight bent plant leg with heavy rotation off the plant foot.  

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action.

FB: 77-80 mph, sinking action with some arm side run.

SL: 71-74 mph, short cutting action with developing spin and shows the ability to land it in the zone.

CB: 70-72 mph, a little more depth than the slider with tighter spin.

Caiden Otte OF / RHP / Troy Buchanan, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-10, 180-pound athletic frame with present strength.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber with a slow and methodical pace.  Works to a high balance point with a slight stall out at the top of the delivery.  Strong coil of the hips and shoulder at the top of the balance point with weight starting to lean back.  High front shoulder tilt.  Sinks into the lower half with a slight push off the rubber into a soft front leg.  Shows good flexibility throughout the delivery and body control.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a longer arm action.

FB: 82-84 mph, more of a driving fastball with mostly straight action.

SL: 67-71 mph, two-plane break with late life when hand gets on top of the ball. 

CH: 74-75 mph, good downward depth with slightly slower hand speed.

Wyatt Seymore RHP / OF / Timberland, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 6-foot-3, 190-pound physical and well built frame with present strength. 

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style delivery with an upright posture.  Works to a high balance point with full weight stack onto a firm back leg.  Hands stay quiet throughout the delivery with the hand breaking from the glove around the belt.  Uses a quick glove tap rhythm when working the ball out of the glove.  Slight lean back with the upper body posture at times at the top of the balance point. Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with long extension down the slope.   

Arm Action: Over the top arm slot with a short arm action.

FB: 78-82 mph, very good riding life through the top of the zone with solid spin rates.

SL: 66-71 mph, short and early break with developing spin.  

SP: 68-70 mph,  downward depth with tilt.

CT: 77-80 mph,  slight horizontal movement with life through the zone.

Kale Sher 3B / RHP / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP

Body: 6-foot-2, 190-pound long and athletic body with good projection to add more strength to the frame.  

Delivery: On the mound uses simple footwork with front foot working in front of the pivot foot.  Slow and methodical pace and rhythm working to a high balance point.  Slight coil of the hips and shoulders with long strides down the mound into a soft plant leg.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum headed towards the plate.  Slight sink into the back leg with a short push off the rubber.  Good balance throughout the delivery.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short and whippy arm action.

FB: 76-80 mph, some arm side run with good tilting action.

SL: 68-70 mph, 10/4 shape with late life and action.

CH: 69-73 mph, fastball hand speed with some late depth.

Aidan Simpson RHP / OF / Park Hill South, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-11, 155-pound lean and athletic build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short rocker style footwork around the rubber.  Quick pace and rhythm working up to a mid height balance point.  Slightly rushed balance point with weight leaning forward at the top of the delivery.  Gets slight push off the backfoot on the rubber into a soft plant leg.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with a shorter stride.  Short glove tap hand break at the top of the balance point. 

Arm Action: High ¾ arm action with a short arm action.

FB: 81-84 mph, heavy arm side run with command to the arm side.

SL: 70-71 mph, two plane break with late depth and sweeping action.

CH: 75 mph, arm side fade with some depth with fastball hand speed.

Brogan Turpin 1B / RHP / Blue Springs, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: 1B/RHP

Body: 6-foot-1, 205-pound physical and mature frame.

Defense: In the infield fields the ball with a soft glove and a feel for glove action.  Feet work well around the bag and gets body turned in sync on throws to second.  Shows the ability to field the ball on the run with clean exchanges out of the glove. 

Run: 7.52 runner in the 60.

Delivery: On the mound uses simple footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Slow and methodical rhythm and pace and repeats the delivery well.  Leans back onto a firm back leg with a high front shoulder tilt.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a firm plant leg. Hands work high on the chest with clean hand break out of the glove.  Finishes on balance and in an athletic position. 

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action.  

FB: 79-82 mph, short arm action with sinking action.

SL: 68-69 mph, two-plane break with sweeping action.

CH: 72-74 mph, kills the spin with good fade and fastball hand speed.

Lane Tyson RHP / 2B / New Convenant, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: MIF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-11, 165-pound athletic build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Quick and up tempo pace to the delivery.  Slight crunch with the upper body at the top of the balance point.  Hands work up and down the with lower half with the hand breaking from the glove as the lead leg works forward.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally slightly closed creating tougher angles on hitters.  

Arm Action: Over the top arm slot with a longer arm action.

FB: 77-80 mph, mostly straight shape with some riding life through the zone.

SL: 63-65 mph, short and early break with some depth. 

CH: 63-72 mph, at times will show some arm side fade with slightly slower than fastball hand speed.

Calvin Urish OF / RHP / Free State, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 6-foot-2, 170-pound long and lean frame with room for added strength and size in the future.  

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Smooth rhythm and pace to the delivery.  Slight forward lean on the weight stack on the back leg.  Front leg kicks out before working down the slope.  Hands break from the glove out and away from the body as the plant leg works forward.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound. 

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a loose arm action.  

FB: 80-83 mph, mostly straight action with some riding life through the zone.

SL: 74-77 mph, slurvy shape with some late depth.  

CH: 74-75 mph, heavy arm side fading action.

Isaac Vedder RHP / 1B / St. Francis Borgia, MO / 2022

Positional Profile: 1B/RHP

Body: 6-foot-3, 205-pound physical build with present strength.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a high balance point.  Slow and methodical rhythm with repeatable pace.  Glove tap hand break at the top of the balance point.  Strong weight stack onto the back leg with good push off the rubber into a firm front leg.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with strong rotation of the body on the plant leg.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a whippy/long arm action.

FB: 74-81 mph, strong tilting action with most straight shape.

SL: 65-70 mph, short and early break with the ability to land in the zone.

CH: 73-76 mph, short arm side fade and late depth. 

Edwin White RHP / 1B / Bishop Miege , KS / 2022

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot, 155-pound lean and projectable frame with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a quick pivot foot and high balance point.  Slight rock in the weight back and forth as the leg works up to the balance point.  Hands are quiet throughout the delivery with the hand breaking from the glove at the mid chest.   Strong weight stack onto a firm front leg with a tall and fall style down the mound.  Lands to a slightly bent plant leg with strong body rotation off the plant leg.  Throws with good leverage and balance.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action and good hand speed.

FB: 85-86 mph, riding life through the zone with some arm side run.

SL: 69-70 mph, slurvy shape with some late depth at times.

CH: 71-73 mph, kills the spin well with good depth and fastball hand speed.

Pierce Wright SS / RHP / Olathe East, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: MIF/RHP

Body: 6-foot-2, 160-pound long and lean build with room for added strength and size to the frame in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber to an easy pivot.  Works to a high balance point with slight crunch in the posture at the top of the delivery.  Slight lean forward on the balance with strong push off the rubber and good extension down the mound.  Max effort delivery.  Gets good momentum headed down the slope.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and lands slightly closed creating tough angles on hitters. 

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a quick/clean arm action and good hand speed.

FB: 78-83 mph, mostly straight shape with some riding life through the zone.  

SL: 63-66 mph, sweeping action with loose spin.

CH: 71-73 mph, mostly straight shape with some late depth.
