MOKAN Top Prospect Underclass Games: Standouts

Andy Urban
KS/OK/MO/AR/CO/Creekside Scouting Supervisor

On Tuesday, June 6th, the PBR Missouri and Kansas staffs traveled to Creekside in Parkville, MO, to host the annual MOKAN Top Prospect Games: Underclass event. This invite-only showcase featured some of the top 2026 and 2027 underclassmen from the two states, and those in attendance participated in a pro-style workout, followed by a simulated game.

Over the years, this event has provided our staff with an up-close look at some of the state’s premier underclass talent. These ‘Top Prospect’ events, like all of our PBR showcases, serve as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the PBR Future Games.

Shortly after the event’s conclusion, our staff published the day’s stat leaders, highlighting a handful of names who put up numbers across the board. You can find that by clicking HERE.

Then, with the help of our tech partners, we compiled a hitting leaderboard, shining some light on multiple top offensive performers through an analytical lens. Those names can be found HERE.

Then, with the help of the unmatched ball flight data from Trackman, we compiled a pitching leaderboard, shining some light on multiple top pitching performers through an analytical lens. Those names can be found HERE.

Hitters

Carson May C / 1B / Olathe East, KS / 2026

There is no young hitter in the state progressing faster than May. The right-handed bat proved he could hit in the middle of the order for Olathe East all year and the power just keeps coming, posting near 100 mph exit velos. Defensively, May has raised his celling showing that he has the foundation to stay behind the plate for the long term.

Benjamin Burton OF / OF / Olathe East, KS / 2026

Burton gets, taller, faster, and stronger every time we see him. The 6-foot-3 175-pound right-handed hitter has always shown bat to ball skills, but is now a threat for extra bases every time he steps into the box. The physical projection should allow Burton ton continue to make big jumps.

Jackson Lucht C / OF / Mill Valley, KS / 2026

The right-handed bat just hits. Lucht knows how to get on time and find barrel and his strength and impressive speed for his size allows him to split gaps and put pressure on defenses.

Brady Stewart SS / 2B / Saint Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2026

Stewart is the long lean and fluid infielder that every school is looking for. He has feel for the game and the athlitcism to make the slow roller play with ease. As he becomes more physical with the bat, he will be a high follow prospect.

Bryce Randall SS / 2B / Olathe North, KS / 2026

Randall is a low pulse competitor that never gets sped up, but the two sport (football) standout still packs plenty of punch. Randall showed up much improved strength and speed at the event while still playing solid defense. As he continues to polish his skill set, Randall will become an interesting power/speed prospect.

Steven Zimbelman 2B / RHP / Basehor/Linwood, KS / 2026

Its all about projection with Zimbelman. The 5-foot-11, 145-pound right-handed hitter creates impressive bat speed and exit velos over 90 and found consistent flat barrels in BP. When he adds strength to his frame, Zimbelman is poised to become a difference maker with the bat.

BRENNAN MCLAUGHLIN SS / RHP / PLATTE COUNTY , MO / 2026

One of the most polished and physically advanced '26s in the state. McLaughlin was one of the stand out players for a solid Platt County team this spring and has carried that momentum into the summer. The right-handed hitter barreled nearly every ball in his round of BP and posted a max exit velo of 98. He also proved his could hit in game two with a couple lasers in his three ABs. Defensively, McLaughlin looks at home on the left-side of the infielder and has the athleticism and arm strength to stay there long term.

The right-hander also jumped on the mound and ran his fastball up to 87.5 while filling up the zone and mixed in an advanced breaking ball.

Pitchers

Milo Burton 3B / RHP / Olathe East, KS / 2026

One of the most projectable prospects in the region, the 6-foot-3, 175-pound Burton is a standout on both sides of the ball, but his future might shine brightest on the mound. The right-hander ran his fastball up to 88 and spun a wipeout slider in the mid 70s with 2500+ spin.

Ethan Rogers LHP / OF / Lone Jack, MO / 2025

Rogers shows a clean arm action that hides behind his body then creates tilt and angel that makes it though for hitters to pick up. The quick twitch left-hander ran his fastball up to 87 and should see his velo tick up with every pound he adds to his slender frame.

Treyton DesLauriers LHP / OF / Home School, KS / 2025

If you like left-handers that move the baseball DesLauriers is your guys. The fastball ranged 81-83 and the horizontal movement and his command gave hitters fits. The sweeping slider plays nicely off the fastball.

Jake Thomas RHP / OF / Staley, MO / 2025

Thomas has a frame every shcool is going to be able to dream on and a college ready breaking ball. Thomas through his curveball to both and RHH and LHH for strikes and as a chase pitch and nobody had a chance as he mowed through batters. The Curveball metrics match the results and as he continues to add velo to his already 84 mph fastball,  the curveball will only become more devastating.
