Below you’ll learn more about Class 5, District 2 and its outlook with the playoffs set to start next week.

+ Webster Groves (16-13) earns the top seed in this District. The Statesmen beat a handful of key opponents, including Parkway Central, John Burroughs, Parkway South, Rockwood Summit, Lafayette, Oakville, and Lutheran South. Webster Groves takes an “attack as a unit” approach on offense, with multiple different threats across the lineup that can beat you in multiple different ways. They also have five different players with double-digit stolen bases on the year, adding an even greater dynamic to their offense. Jackson Torbit (2024), Henry Biffar (2024; McKendree), Chris Wilhelm (2025), and Tyson Knapp (2024) are all throwing the ball well for this team on the mound. Webster Groves is the favorite to take home this District title.

+ John Burroughs (13-12) won the Class 4 state championship last spring and, because of the competition rule, bumps up to Class 5 this spring. They’ve won four straight to end the year, including a sweep of Lutheran South and a win over Parkway South, who’s one of the top teams in the state. Hall Chapman (2025) has stepped into the role of staff ace in his junior year, hurling 51 ⅔ innings with a 2.03 ERA and 59 strikeouts. Griffin Barnett (2024), Calvin Gelle (2024), Ahmad Muhammad (2025), Carter Deken (2026), and Charlie Karlovic (2024; Occidental) are all having strong seasons at the plate as well.

+ Lutheran South (14-15) is the third seed in this grouping. Mac Floyd (2024) and Connor Terbrock (2024) both hit over .400 in a near 100 plate appearance sample to pace this offense. Brendan Graves (2024) led the way on the mound with a 2.75 ERA over a 40 ⅔ inning sample, while Jacob Cody (2025) and Jack Dalton (2027) each threw the ball well for the Lancers.

+ Clayton (10-15), St. Mary’s South Side (4-11), McCluer North (12-1), Hazelwood East (6-4), and Vashon (3-5) are the last five seeds in this District.
