NIC-10

No.11 Rockford Boylan (26-7; 17-1) wrapped up the NIC-10 title with a 10-0, five-inning victory over Belvidere North. Titan RHP Joe Kubera fired a one-hitter at the Blue Thunder for the NIC-10 champions.

Public League Playoffs

Simeon (26-7) and Lane Tech (21-12) will meet on Monday for the CPS Championship, as the Wolverines and Indians won semifinal games on Friday.

Simeon (26-7) defeated Clemente 6-3 behind University of Iowa-bound Blake Hickman (2-0). Hickman fired a six-hitter at the Wildcats with 8 strikeouts. Junior Elbert Dunnigan led the Wolverine attack with two hits and an RBI. 

Lane Tech (21-12) outslugged Harlan 12-8 behind a three-RBI night by Indian Alex Sheehan. Ricky Hernandez chipped in with two RBI.

Mid-Suburban League Championship

Trevor Haas scattered 6 hits in 6 innings and Mike Danielak came in to get the final out as Hersey (25-8) claimed its third MSL title and first since 1992 with a 3-1 victory over Fremd.

Nonconference

No. 2 Joliet Catholic (27-6-1) sent a message to the whole state with a total destruction of No. 8 Plainfield North (30-4) on Friday. The Class 3A favorite Hilltoppers destroyed the Tigers 13-0 in five innings behind Porsche Player of the Week LHP Kevin Duchene (8-0). Duchene fired a two-hitter at North with six strikeouts. Juniors 1B Ryan Peter and SS Chris Tschida each plated three runs for the East Suburban Conference Champions.

No. 10 Hinsdale South (28-4) slipped past Batavia 6-5
