May 2nd Daily Game Roundup

#3 Columbus North 6 Columbus East 0 – Daniel Ayers started for Columbus North struck out the first six batters he faced and finished with 15 strikeouts on the day and three walks. Brian Wichman was sharp as well mixing his pitches nicely as he kept the North hitters off balance.  In the 5th inning Jesse Tompkins ripped a double to get North on the board. Later in the inning C.J. Dennis squared up a bases loaded triple to put the game out of reach to put North up 6-0.

#4 Huntington North 13 Marion 3 – Huntington North put up 10 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to finish the game. They combined to collect 16 hits in the game. Trevor Storie doubled, and got the win on the mound, Brock Gower also double in the game. Cody Frazier had a triple.

Westfield 10 #5 Zionsville 9 F/8 – Westfield scored two runs in the top of the 8th inning to get the win. Wade Burtron led the offense going 2-4 with a double, four RBI, and two runs score. Brandon Gray was 2-4 with two RBI and a run and Jake Deitz was 2-3 with a RBI and two runs.

#6 Cathedral 14 #24 New Palestine 6

#9 Pendleton Heights 15 Connersville 6 – Hunter Cook had a big day at the plate finishing 4-4 with a homerun, five RBI, and three runs scored. Mitch Patishall was 3-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored. Brogan Gray was 3-4 with a double, RBI, and two runs, Parker Aul was 2-5 with a double, RBI, and two runs, and Trevor Jennings was 2-3 with a triple, RBI, and three runs.

 

#10 Andrean 10 Griffith 0 - Andrean had 10 hits in 5 innings including doubles by Cody Haver (2012; Olivet Nazarene), Zach Goldasich (2012), Nick Tobye (2012), Eric Rapacz (2013; uncommitted) and Joey Plesac (2013; uncommitted). Zac Ryan (2013; Georgia Tech) allowed one hit in five innings to get the win.

#14 Fishers 11 Lafayette Harrison 7 - Tigers picked up where they left off last week pounding out 18 hits. Parker Lasch hit a 2-run homerun, and Jon Cordell added a solo homerun. Matt Woolwine finished 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, 2 runs, and 2 stolen bases. Clark added 3 hits, including 2 doubles, and J.P. Pena added 3 hits and 3 RBI.

#15 Portage 6 Merrillville 5

#17 Evansville 9 North Boonville 8 - Alex McCune hit a walk of HR with 1 out in the bottom of the 8th. McCune also doubled, score 3 runs and stole 2 bases. Junior Lukas Scarlett hit his 5th HR in 7 games. North improves to 11-3.

#22 Norwell 10 Adams Central 7 - Norwell came back from 7-5 down in the 6th to defeat the Jets at Monroe.  The Knights hit three HR in the game, one each by Luke Hunter, who was 2-4, Higgins, and Szarenski, who was 3-4 with the homer and two 2B.  The big blow of the game was on the three run homerun by Higgins which brought the Knights back from a 5-1 deficit.  Briar Bolinger was the winning pitcher for Norwell.  Dalton Combs went 3-3 with two 2B and three runs scored for Adams Central.  Isaac Luginbill had 2 RBI as did Will Schultz.

#21 Center Grove 6 #20 Greenwood 4 – Jay Prior picked up the win working five innings allowing one earned run on five hits and striking out six. Brice Laigle was 2-4 with two RBI and a run. Austin Combs had a hit and drove in a run and Brock Koehler also drove in a run. Landon Fink took the loss throw all seven innings allowing three earned runs and striking out nine, he also drove in two runs at the plate.

Hamilton Southeastern 12 Lafayette Jefferson 1 – Jacob Kowal got the win going four innings allowing two hits, no earned runs and striking out five. Five players had multi-hit games: Wes Edrington (2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R), Joel Naab (2-2, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R), Mitch Hansen (2-3, RBI, 2 R), Mitch Roman (2-3, RBI, R), and Justin Striebel (2-3, RBI, 2 R).

Northfield 19 Tippecanoe Valley 1 – Ryan Keaffaber had a big day at the plate going 3-4 with a 2B, GS, and eight RBI. He was pretty good on the mound going all five innings allowing three hits, one run, and striking out 10. Adam Roser was 2-3 with two runs and Ethan Stouffer was 1-1 with two runs and a RBI.

Lapel 12 Shenandoah 7 – Adam Taylor was 3-3 with a double, two RBI, and two runs and Dane Mason was 1-2 with a double, three RBI, and two runs. Jacob Young was 2-2 with two RBI and Boston Field was 1-2 with a RBI and a run. Evan Mohr and Joel Good both drove in a run and score once.

Hobart 4 Munster 2 - Junior lefty C.J. Komosa went the distance for Hobart allowing three hits, and two walks while striking out six to improve his record to 5-0.  Jake Ehrlich and Anthony Burgos had two hits each for Hobart.

Centerville 13 Blue River Valley 3 – Jacob Mathena finished the game 2-4 with a homerun, three RBI, and three runs scored. Alec Purcell was 3-4 with a double, triple, two RBI, and three runs. Dallas Stiller and Tyler Weaver were both 2-3, Stiller drove in three and Weaver drove in one.

North Central 10 Lawrence North 9 – Mark Smith hit two homeruns and drove in four runs in the win. Craig Larew was 5-5 for LN.
