Millbrook Outslugs Athens Drive

Millbrook was victorious in a non-conference game against Athens Drive Wednesday afternoon by a 12-2 score. Millbrook’s RHP Brian Pearce (2019) pitched all 5 innings in a shorten game due to the 10 run rule. Brian gave up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 3 and not walking anyone.  Millbrook had 9 hits, 4 walks, 1 HBP, while striking out 2 times against 3 Athens Drive pitchers.

The three Athens Drive’s arms each worked two innings or less.  RHP Ben Ruth (2017) threw 2 innings, RHP Christian Small (2018) threw 1.2 innings, and RHP Braxton Boddorf (2019) threw 0.1 inning. 

The score was 4-2 in favor of Millbrook moving to the bottom of the fourth.  Millbrook broke the game open scoring 7 runs. Millbrook was led by Tyler Snead’s (2018) triple, 2 walks, and HBP. Gregory Strickland (2018) had 2 doubles and Justin Wilcoxen (2019) added a double and single in 3 plate appearances.

Athens Drive’s Sam Enders (2017), Adam Stuart (2019), Cole Baker (2017), and Cole Earl (2017) singled to account for Athens Drive’s hits.

Wesleyan Christian Continues to Roll

One of the top programs in the state, and a team that is working to lay claim to be the best in the 2017, Wesleyan Christian Academy faced off versus the Charlotte Stampede on Thursday evening. The Trojans feature North Carolina State signee and USA 18U team member Patrick Bailey behind the plate. Wesleyan fielded a deep line up top to bottom of talented players. On this day the Trojans  man handled the Stampede who carried a 7-4 record into the contest.
