It was all Benedictine for the first five innings, but Miller School's bats would come alive in the sixth. The Mavericks tallied eight of their nine hits and eight of the nine runs in the last two innings to give them a 9-5 victory over previously unbeaten No. 1 Benedictine.

This setup to be a big time pitching matchup between Garrett Payne (NC State) of Miller School and Jay Woolfolk of Benedictine, but it would be the two offenses that would break out in the mid-innings making this more of and offensive shootout.

After Payne and Woolfolk exchanged zero's for the first two innings, but Miller School's Jack Carey would put the Mavericks on the board with a solo homerun in the 3rd making it 1-0 Miller. In the bottom half after a leadoff walk and a Jamari Baylor double the Cadets had two runners on for senior Brett Cook. Cook would send a line drive back through the middle to score both Cadets runners making it 2-1 Benedictine.

Benedictine would strike for another two in the bottom of the 4th with a Brett Allen two run homerun out of right field making it 4-1 Cadets. That would be all the scoring until the top of the 6th as Miller School would take advantage of a throwing error to start the inning.

The next batter would walk and from that point forward the Maverick bats would awaken. Jeremy Wagner started it with a two run single to center making it 4-3. Ethan Chenault would then double down the left field line, scoring Wagner all the way from first. It was tied up with Chenault on third with two outs and he would end up scoring on a passed ball making it 5-4 Miller. They would take that lead to the bottom of the 6th where Benedictine would tie it back up on a Nick Neighbors pinch hit single making it 5-5 headed to the top of the 7th.

Miller School's bats would not stop, as they would score four more runs on four hits in the top of the 7th. That would make it 9-5 Miller School and that would stand, as Payne would come back out and finish what he started.

Payne had seven innings pitched, had six strikeouts, and allowed seven hits.

Wagner had two big AB's to finish his day at 2-4 with three RBI.

Lucas Adams was 2-4 with a RBI.

Carey was 1-2 with two runs scored, a RBI, and a homerun.

Woolfolk went five innings, allowing two hits, three earned runs, and struck out eight along the way.

Cook had some nice AB's on the day and was 2-4 with two RBI.

Allen was 1-3 with a homerun and two RBI.
