Nebraska Spring Preview Pre-Event Notes

Brian Feekin
Nebraska Scouting Director

On Monday, Feb, 17, 2020, Prep Baseball Report Nebraska will be hosting its forth annual Nebraska Spring Preview event at the Ultimate Baseball Academy (UBA). This event is one of the most highly anticipated events on the PBR Nebraska calendar as it gives prospects from around the state a platform to showcase their tools leading into the 2020 Spring season.

The highest ranked uncommitted prospect on Monday in the 2021 class is Lincoln Easts' Austin Schneider, the No. 10 ranked prospect in his class. Schneider is a uber-athletic, 6-foot-1, 180 pound outfielder/right handed pitcher who had a breakout sophomore year at Lincoln East. He has loft pop in his bat with a mid/pull approach at the plate. On the mound, he has been up to the mid 80s with a clean easy arm action. Ranked behind Schneider, uncommitted ULT, Aidan Jackson, will also be in attendance. Jackson has above average tools across the board with clean actions and is ranked #25 in the 2021 class.

One potential break out prospect in the 2021 class is Papillion South's Garrett Freeman. Freeman missed a chunk of the 2019 with injury but has big time power potential at the plate. At 6-foot-2, 208 pounds, Freeman showed well when we had a chance to see him this Fall.

Ranked #227 in the PBR National 2022 Rankings, Nathen Moquin from Millard South will be in attendance at the Spring Preview. Moquin has a chance to be the premier arm in the 2022 class in Nebraska with a fastball that will top in the mid to upper 80s and shows feel for a breaking ball. He had a up and down 2019 but looks to bounce back in 2020.
