New England Insider: A Time of Giving Thanks

As we come upon the great Thanksgiving Holiday, we at PBR would like to give thanks to all that have helped us grow PBR and to those who made going to work fun while putting a smile on our faces every day.

Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate the good times with family and friends. Thanksgiving is also a time to remember all of those who have put you in position to succeed in life and enjoy life as you should.

Oh and of course the food, the football, the games and all the fun that comes with Thanksgiving.

Below we at PBR New England what to give our thanks.

Dennis Healy, Co-Director of Scouting

What am I thankful for?
Dennis: Being thankful at this time year becomes easier as you are around family more often during the holidays. I am thankful for my two sons, my family and the ability to get up everyday and work at what I love to do. Not many people have the ability to get up everyday and feel good about what they are doing on a daily basis. I feel very fortunate that I could attempt to make a difference in peoples lives.

What do I think high school athletes should be thankful for?
Dennis: Each player, nowadays, should thank their parents for the sacrifices they make on a daily basis so the kids can have extra equipment, lessons and travel to different parts of the country to play sports. Being a high school athlete is easier today than 20 years ago, parents make financial sacrifices, time sacrifices and much more to get their sons and daughters the best possible coaching and exposure. Most players today, are very fortunate and take it for granted.

Trevor Brown, Co-Director of Scouting

What I am thankful for?
Trevor: I am thankful that I get to work with a variety of baseball players that all have the same goal, to play college baseball. It has been so rewarding to get an email or call when a student athlete has committed to a college to play baseball.  I am so thankful that I get to spend more time with my family, but still be so involved in baseball.

What do you feel high school athletes should be thankful for?
Trevor: HS athletes should be thankful that they have supportive adults in their lives that give them the opportunity to attend events such as PBR. They should also be thankful for all of the people in their lives that have gotten to them to where they are now and for those who continue to push and encourage them to reach their goals.

Dylan Hefflinger, Editor in Chief/Scout

What I am thankful for?
Dylan: I am thankful for being blessed with one of the greatest jobs one could ask for. I get to help high school baseball players reach their dreams and possibly beyond. It has been an overwhelming joy to see the looks on the faces of athletes when they succeed on the field athletically as well as off the field in school and the community. I am also thankful for all the thank you emails and phone calls I have gotten from numerous parents and prospects who have thanked me for helping their son reach their goals and beyond.

What do you feel high school athletes should be thankful for?
Dylan: Being a high school athlete is one of the greatest times of your life. Be thankful for your coaches, teammates, school faculty, the community and most of all your parents. Many people sacrifice many things to be able to allow you the greatest opportunities to succeed in high school athletics as well as life in general. Cherish these times! I know there are many older folk who wish they had the opportunity again.

Steve Alhona, PBR Worker

What I am thankful for?
Steve: I’m extremely thankful for being able to help so many players achieve their dreams. There's no better feeling than watching all the work they put in start to pay off.

What do you feel high school athletes should be thankful for?
Steve: I think players should be thankful for their parents. Parents don’t get enough credit for the time (and money) they sacrifice to see their child achieve their dream.

Players should also be thankful for all of the opportunities that are available to them. If you have the dream to play baseball, there are so many options at all levels. HS athletes should be thankful for everyone involved in helping them find a program that supports their goals athletically, academically, and socially.

Bryce Nugent, PBR Worker

What am I thankful for?
Bryce: I am thankful for the opportunity to have a positive impact on young athletes' careers. It is a fulfilling experience to know that I am able to directly affect their development as baseball players and young men.

What do you feel high school athletes should be thankful for?
Bryce: High school athletes should be thankful for the opportunity to play a game as great as baseball. They should enjoy every moment of the game and cherish all of the friendships they will build along the way.
