New England Top Ten Breakdown: Top Viewed Prospect Profiles - #6 Chad Knight

Chad Knight#6 Chad Knight, RHP, Staples, 2019 (Duke commit)
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 190-pound, very strong hands and lower half, the back and shoulders are wide, is put together well. A right-handed hitter who has strength in his swing. The stance is open with high hands, has a leg kick for timing and has an aggressive separation. Shows plus power to all fields, works from gap to gap. Collected a double and triple to center and right center. The tee exit velocity was 96 mph, ran a 7.01 60-yard dash, with a time of 4.44 down the line. Defensively, plays the hot corner, hands and feet work well, has a slightly longer arm path. The arm registered at 81 mph, should be a tick higher, has had a big workload throughout the year. On the mound, works from a high-¾ slot, worked downhill and pitched inside well to right-handed hitters. The fastball is 83-85 mph, needs to get some movement, tends to be straight at times. The breaking ball is much improved, clocked at 68-72 mph, has more of a 11/5 break. The changeup has proper spin and fade, didn't throw it in game, was a solid pitch in bullpen. A three pitch pitcher, who pounds the zone. Projects for me as a power hitting corner outfielder at the next level, with ability to help off the mound.

Overview: In 2016, the 6-foot right-handed pitcher came onto the scene with an electic arm and power in his bat. During 2016, Knight took part in the 2016 Future Games for Team Connecticut and showed well, committing to Duke after the event. Look for the two-way prospect to continue to develop in high school over the next three seasons before taking the next step.
