NEW PALESTINE, IND - New Palestine came out on top in Wednesday’s back and forth battle with Roncalli.  Connor Swain (2014) and Cameron Clark (2014) were the game’s top performers leading the New Palestine Dragons to their ninth win of the season.

Roncalli got the scoring started in the top of the first with Joe Ardizzone (2012) drawing a two out walk and then scoring on a single by Nick Wright (2012).  New Palestine responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning with Nick Ulrey(2013), Alec Shull (2012), and Jacob Barnes (2012) hitting consecutive base hits to load the bases.  Cameron Clark then hit a single of his own to score Ulrey and Shull giving the Dragons a 2-1 lead.

Roncalli regained the lead in the top of the third after Ardizzone doubled to lead off the inning. Drew Biddle (2013) singled later in the inning scoring two runs to give the Rebels a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom half, New Palestine’s Brian Page (2012) reached base on a fielder’s choice and later socred on an RBI single by Alex Rejer (2013) knotting things up at 3-3.

Both teams scored one run apiece in the sixth.  Roncalli’s run came off a suicide squeeze from Aaron Schnell (2014), scoring Biddle.  For New Palesine, the Dragons socred off of a RBI single from Ulrey, tying the game at 4-4. 

In the end, New Palestine was able to put the final run across the plate with two outs in the bottom half of the seventh. Connor Swain reached on an error, and then advanced to second on an error.  With two outs and runners at first and second, Ochs singled up the middle scoring Swain to give the Dragons the 5-4 win.
