With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR New England is eagerly anticipating bringing the New England states the best high school coverage throughout the region.

Starting in Late-January, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2017 Massachusetts SPRING TEAM PREVIEW: Noble and greenough

Team Name: Noble and Greenough
Head Coach: Rob Murray
Division: Private
2016 Record: 12-10
Conference Record: ISL 9-6
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 4/3

2017 Team Strengths:

  • Defense
  • Starting Pitching
  • Offense
  • Speed 

2017 Team Weaknesses:

  • New Team
  • Depth on the mound 

Coach Outlook: "We graduated 10 seniors off of last years team, but we return the ISL pitcher of the year and 3 other starters. We were also able to bring in some experienced players and are looking for other younger players to step up this season."

PBR Outlook: Return of the conference PoY bodes well for this club. Winning starts on the mound, so as long as they progress over the course of the year they should be in the mix for the championship."

  • Phil Barnett - OF/RHP - (6-2/180, Sr., 2-yr starter, Capt., Williams commit, ISL PoY) (.341 avg, 9 SB, 9 R) (6-0, 0.77 ERA, 29 K, 16 BB)
  • Ryan Duffey - OF - (6-3/190, Sr., 3-yr starter, Capt., Navy commit, All-ISL) (.341 avg, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 7 R, 5 SB)

Top Underclassmen:

  • Ben Rice - C - 6-2 185, 2 yr starter
  • James Welch - 2B - 5-10 175, 3 yr starter, Capt.
  • Dylan McNary - SS - 6-0 185 (new to Nobles)
  • Jason Medeiros - OF - 6-0 215 (new to Nobles)
  • Matt Venuto - C - 5-10 190 (new to Nobles), great defensive skills, good pop from the left side
  • Cole Koeppel - RHP - 6-6 205, great size, big upside, projects well
