 Bishop McGuinness vs OKC Athletics Game One

Bishop McGuinness (all players from Bishop McGuinness HS)
Trevon Jelenik, SS (2017)

A 6-foot-2 160 slender frame with plenty of room to add strength and power. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle of the field approach, good hand eye. Athletic set-up, some rhythm, slight leg kick, short to the ball, flat plane through contact, good leg drive. Jelenik was perfect at the plate, going 4/4 with singles all in the middle of the field, coming around to score once and one RBI. Defensively, shows the ability to make the routine plays at shortstop. 

Griffin Charles RHP/1B (2017)
A 6-foot-4, 225-pound mature, thick, strong build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach. Balanced stance, big load, toe tap stride for timing, some length, strong hands.  Charles broke up the game with a hard hit two RBI double in the pull gap.

Drew Wade RHP/3B (2017)
A 6-foot-3, 185 pound frame, built for the mound. Wade works with average tempo and some effort in his delivery, high-3/4 slot. Fastball often in the zone, 76-80 mph. Curveball rolled at 65-67 mph. Split was sparingly used, 69-70 mph. Wade through the first two innings scoreless. With the bat, Wade doubled off of a breaking ball showing good rhythm and some hand strength.

Patrick Joyce, OF, Bishop McGuinness (2019)

A 5-foot-10, 160-pound lean frame. Offensively, left-handed hitter, middle of the field approach. Slightly wide set up, good rhythm, short stride, late heel plant, flat path to contact, shows some barrel control. In the outfield, Joyce shows some athletic actions. In-game, all three plate appearances were quality, leading off the game with a single, a 4-3 groundout RBI, and a HBP.

Griffin Charles RHP/1B, Bishop McGuinness (2017)

A 6-foot-4, 225-pound mature, thick, strong build. On the mound, slow, controlled windup, sinks into backside, over the top slot. Fastball kept its plane, sat 79-81 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape, 62-63 mph. Didn’t give up a run in his only inning of work.

A 5-foot-10, 160-pound lean frame. Offensively, left-handed hitter, middle of the field approach. Slightly wide set up, good rhythm, short stride, late heel plant, flat path to contact, shows some barrel control. In the outfield, Joyce shows some athletic actions. In-game, produced two singles through the middle of the infield and earned an RBI.

Andrew Minard, RHP, Home School (2018)

A 6-foot, 180 pound average build. Smooth delivery, up down and out leg kick, sweeping glove side, average effort. Fastball sits 74-75 mph, low-3/4 arm slot. Trouble repeating at times, but effective when in the zone.
