Offensive Displays Highlight The March 20th Game Roundup



While rain washed out games the Western half of the state, Eastern Missouri had a full slate of games played. Here are a few highlights:

Vianney blanked Webster Groves 10-0 in the Lindbergh-Mehlville Tournament. Vianney was led by catcher Jack Klages, who went two for four with three RBIs. Starting pitcher Aaron Bossi allowed one hit in the shortened game. Matt Brown also contributed with a two run blast over the left field wall, into a stiff wind.

In other Lindbergh-Mehlville Tournament Action:

Lindbergh put up double digits on offense for the second straight game, picking up a 14-4 win over St. Mary’s.

Hazelwood West defeated Affton 5 to 2.

Mehlville defeated Oakville 8-1. Kurt McGwire got Mehlville on the board with a solo homerun in the bottom of the second inning, while Brian Phelan drove in two runs. Chris Janessen went the distance, striking out three and allowing 10 hits

At the Parkway Tournament, Francis Howell Central continued their winning ways, defeating Parkway West 9-1. Travis Vaught and Ryan Howard continued to stay hot at the plate with two hits apiece, and Dean Ballenger contributed with three hits.

Westminster got in the win column, defeating Parkway Central 5-3. Tate Matheny hit a two run homerun, his second in as many days to lead the Westminster offense. Davis Vanderslice went five strong innings, allowing three runs.

Offense was the name of the game where No. 18 Notre Dame defeated No. 16 Sikeston 10-9 in nine innings.  Jesse Schott led the Notre Dame offense with two long homeruns, and Cody Heisserer contributed with two hits. Justin Landewee picked up the win in relief. Sikeston’s offense was led by Trent McMillan and Luke Keefer, who each had three run homeruns, and Tyler Anderson’s three RBI afternoon.

Poplar Bluff scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game and one run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a walk off single by Jeff Rowland, defeating Kennett 6 to 5.

Ste. Genevieve outslugged Jackson 13-11.

Dexter defeated Malden 9 to 4.

Festus defeated Washington 6 to 2.
