Ohio Spotlight Game: District Semifinal - #25 Anthony Wayne vs #26 Toledo St. Francis de Sales

#25 Anthony Wayne battled #26 St. Francis in the D-1 State baseball tournament semifinal game in the Findlay District.

2018 Nick Schneider led off the game for Anthony Wayne with a infield base hit down the 3rd base line, followed by a line drive single to center by 2016 C.J. Deacon placing runners on the corners.

2017's Evan Brown and Alex Vogel both singled scoring Schneider and Deacon. 2016 Ryan Meyers doubled to left bringing Brown home giving Anthony Wayne an early 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st.

St. Francis responded back in the 3rd inning.

2017 Nick Sifuentes reached base on a 1st base miscue but was thrown out on following play due to a 6-4 fielder's choice, allowing 2017 Noah Watts to reach base. 2016 Mike White singled to right, and 2018 Jay Denman placed a beautiful drag bunt  down the 3rd baseline loading the bases. 2018 Nate Sifuentes hit a two-run single to right field narrowing the Anthony Wayne lead.

The following inning 2018 Brock Nartker doubled down the leftfield line, followed by a misplayed grounder by the shortstop that allowed 2017 Frank Wielinski to reach base safely.

Nartker scored on a wild pitch from 3rd base. Schneider received a free pass placing runners on the corners. Both Deacon and Brown both drove in runs scoring 3 runs in the inning.

In the top of the 5th, 2016 Sam Toft received a free pass, followed by 2018 Andrew Murphy's single to center. 2017 Sean Mowery hit an RBI single to center scoring Toft.

Deacon led off the sixth inning with a line drive double to leftfield, Brown followed with a single to left placing runners on the corners. Vogel drove a deep sacrifice fly to center scoring Deacon. 2016 Ryan Meyers placed a sacrifice bunt down scoring Brown.

Nate Sifuentes was hit by pitch to lead off the  sixth inning and advanced to third on a laser up the middle by 2016 Tim Organ. Sifuentes later scored on a wild pitch and 2017 Danny Martin drove a sac fly to right scoring Organ.

St. Francis was able to scratch 3 additional runs across in the bottom of the 7th inning due to Anthony Wayne defensive miscues but fell 9-7.
