Ohio Spotlight Game: Orrville vs #9 Akron Manchester

Akron – In a Division III sectional championship game the #9 ranked Manchester Panthers defeated the Orrville Red Riders 3-2 in walk off fashion.

Junior starting pitcher Dalton Earich came to the plate with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning and the score tied at two. With runners on first and third Earich ripped a single up the middle to score junior outfielder Andrew McFadden giving the Panthers their third consecutive sectional championship.

The tough luck loser was junior left handed pitcher Austin Domer. Domer, the 80th ranked player in Ohio, threw 6 and 1/3 innings striking out five batters. 

Earich not only delivered the game winning hit but also earned the victory on the mound. The junior right hander picked up his sixth win of the year throwing all seven innings. Ranked 34th in Ohio he struck out seven batters and walked just two.

With the win Manchester improved their record to 16-4 and return to action on Wednesday May 11th, 2016 as they face Fairless.

With the loss Orrville fell to 7-16 and return to action on Wednesday May 11th, 2016 as they play Mansfield Madison.
