Ontario Insider: Tournament 12 - Ontario Green vs Futures Team

Rogers Centre- After playing to a scoreless draw earlier in the day, Ontario Green were relying on their bats to pull through in their second game of the afternoon. The hitters did not let the pitching down this time around, exploding for 12 runs in a 12-1 victory over the Future’s squad.

Led by Jameson Hart, Kurt Dawkins, and Trei Cruz, Ontario combined for eight hits on top of 11 walks that allowed them to blow the game wide open in the 6th inning. Dawkins would come around to score all four times he reached base, Hart picked up three RBIs on two singles, while Bryce O’Farrell hit a towering double to the wall for an RBI double. Cruz and Dondrae Bremner picked a combined three RBI between the two as well on some hard hit singles.

On the mound Ontario got great work out of Corben Peters, who threw three innings of one run ball striking out two batters. A repeatable delivery and a sharp breaking ball helped Peters to take advantage of opposing hitters. Garner Spoljaric who threw two perfect innings pitched in relief for Peters, showing off a loose arm and great command on his fastball and slider.

Dallas Hunter finished the game for the Ontario Green squad throwing one shutout inning, recording one strikeout in the process.

For the Futures team it was Ian Jordan with the loan RBI, although Tyrell Schofield-Sam hit an impressive opposite-field double to right field gap only to be left stranded. Despite a rough outing, Future’s starter Thomas Murphy was able to strike out six over four innings of work.
