Prep Baseball Report
PBR Florida Staff

We are excited to announce our 2018 Fall event schedule. The Fall will be consist of three types of events. The Top Prospect Games Series, Unsigned Senior and the Joe Skinner Fall Championship tournament and combine.

We are extremely excited to announce the partnership with the SkinnerStrong Foundation to run the annual Joe Skinner Fall Championship September 14-16 in Sarasota, FL. This tournament will be for 16u/15u teams and proceeds will benefit the SkinnerStrong Foundation. The Foundation was established to continue the legacy of Joe Skinner, a gifted and humble athlete with a kind heart. Joe was diagnosed with hypodiploid acute lymphoblastic leukemia in December 2015 and passed away less than five months later, at age 17.

Upon learning of Joe’s diagnosis, his Bishop Moore High School baseball teammates and friends, led by Mike Giordano, started the SkinnerStrong movement. It began with selling #SKINNERSTRONG wristbands and grew from there.  Joe asked that the funds raised be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and leukemia research organizations; he wanted young kids like the ones he saw in the hospital to have something to look forward to and he wanted to give hope of a cure for those afflicted.  The Foundation was created in that spirit.

The SkinnerStrong Foundation’s mission is to support research in the area of childhood leukemia; the treatment and care of children with leukemia; and Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, Fla., by promoting the Foundation, accepting donations and hosting fundraisers.

PBR will be facilitating operations and coverage of the tournament. We will also offer two combine sessions for position players Saturday September 15th at Ed Smith Stadium. Check out the event page and register for the combine HERE

TOP PROSPECT

The Top Prospect Games has been a staple of state specific events and draws attention from colleges from across the country. These events are so heavily attended and viewed for one reason: the players, and the top 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 prospects will be identified and invited. Year in and year out, the best talent in the state is represented at these events, and the Florida Top Prospect Games will reflect that.

This year, we will be launching the Top Prospect Games Series, which will bring this high quality, selective event to a city near you. The goal in mind is to bring a high-value event that will include a pro-style workout and game, updating your profile for over 800 colleges and competing against some of the best players in the area. The combination of value, location and exposure will make these events a must-attend.

To keep these events at the highest possible quality and provide equal time for exposure, we will be limiting the number of participants by position as follows. Remember sign up as soon as possible as the spots will go quickly, so sign up asap.
