PBR Metro Tournament: Day 4

The PBR Metro Tournament entered day 4 of action Thursday with three games. Below you will find a recap of the three games and a preview of today’s semifinal games.

Cabot 7 vs Maumelle 3

Cabot received a strong start from 2017 RHP Brett Brockington who pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing zero earned runs walking 2 while striking out 7. He commanded his fastball efficiently at 84-87 mph and complimented it with a sharp curveball with 11/5 action and late break thrown 77-78 mph.

2017 MIF Blake McCutchen took the game over for Cabot offensively going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles a triple and 3 runs scored.

Maumelle was solid on the mound not allowing an earned run, just made too many mistakes defensively to slow down the panthers.

2017 RHP Jordan Graham impressed during his outing, flashing mid-80s fastball with a curveball thrown 72-74 mph with early break.  Graham pitched 2 2/3 innings with 4 strike outs.

Offensively Maumelle was paced by 2019 MIF Brody Ammons, he went 3 for 4 with a run scored

Cabot will play Russellville today at 4:00 PM and Maumelle will play Searcy at 6:30 in semi-finals


Watson Chapel 8 vs Lonoke 0

2018 LHP Kaleb Hill is considered one of the top pitching prospects in the state of Arkansas. He lived up to the hype Thursday night. Hill worked 4 2/3 inning with 11 strike outs and allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk. His fastball worked 84-86 mph, he also located his curveball 74-76 mph with late action and depth.

2018 MIF Gianti Turner sparked the offense again from the leadoff spot recording 2 hits, drawing a walk and scoring 3 runs in 3 plate appearances. 2018 C Garrett Dennis also chipped in with 2 hits and an RBI to provide all the Wildcats would need to pick up the win.

2017 CIF Keith Lingo picked up Lonoke’s lone hit, as the rest of the team was held down by Hill’s dominance.

Watson Chapel will play the winner of Farmington and Central Arkansas Christian today at 6:30 at Pulaski Academy.

Lonoke is eliminated and will play Episcopal Collegiate in conference double header on Tuesday, March 7th.

Searcy 10 vs Pulaski Academy 1

Searcy pounded out 10 runs on 9 hits in 4 at bats to take care of Pulaski Academy to advance to the semi-finals.

Offensively is was a balanced attack as 6 hitters recorded a hit on the day. 2018 C Andrew Stanley picked up 1 hit 2 RBIs and scored a run as one of the many players to stand out for the Lions.

2017 CIF/RHP Adrian Hannah is generally a topic of conversation in the offensive portion of a contest. Yester Hannah worked 3 walks and a run scored. Where his presence was felt was on the mound. Hannah pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing just 1 hit while striking out 3 and allowing just one free pass.

2017 Dylan Nossler picked up the lone hit for the Bruins.

Searcy will compete today in the semi-finals against Maumelle at 6:30, while Pulaski Academy will play Saturday with against an opponent that is TBD. There game will be at 1:00 PM at Maumelle.
