Riverside downed Greensburg Central Catholic today 11-3 in a first round WPIAL Class AA playoff game played at Pullman Park in Butler.

Riverside senior pitcher Rob Hardy threw a complete game allowing just three runs and supported himself by reaching base all four times he was at the plate. Hardy went two-for-two with a double and three RBI.  He also walked twice. Juniors Ian Sutherland and Blaise McCarty both went two-for-four with two RBI.

As a team Riverside scored 11 runs on 11 hits, all of which were singles.

Greensburg Central Catholic was led offensively by senior catcher Brad Appleby who collected a pair of doubles and drove in a run.

Riverside (16-5) advances to tomorrow's quarterfinal round of the WPIAL Class AA playoffs. They will play Deer Lakes at 4:30pm at Chippewa Park. Greensburg Central Catholic (12-7) ends its season with the loss.
