PBR Spotlight Game: Willougby South HS vs. St. Edward HS

AVON- St. Edward HS beat Willoughby South 10-6 in weather more suitable for a November playoff football game.

South was a last minute replacement for Youngstown Boardman who could not make the trip to play on the turf at All-Pro Stadium.

The Eagles got on the board in the second inning off South junior starter Dan Elliott, using three singles, a walk and a big bases loaded triple in the gap by senior Adam Madias.

However, South quickly got back in the game in the top of the third on a RBI single by senior Casey Klicman, but the rally was ended by a nifty 5-3-6 double play.

St. Edward pushed the lead to nine to two on a solo opposite field blast by senior Cory Jacobs in the fourth. Jacobs then followed with a two RBI single in the fifth.

Junior starting pitcher Michael Cuva pitched into the final inning before tiring and eventually giving up four runs.

Jacobs led the way offensively for the Eagles while South was led by senior Anthony Frederico who had a triple and a single in three at-bats.
