From June 17 to 20, the PBR Wisconsin staff hosted the PBR at The Rock 15U Championship at The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin. The invite-only tournament featured over 40 teams from top clubs in the Midwest. Throughout the weekend, players performed in front of our staff of scouts and competed valiantly, culminating in one final champion.

MASH (Vocca) took home the 15U championship on Sunday after a dramatic, high-scoring contest. They played through light rain, battling until the very end for a 14-13 victory over Top Tier 2024. Both teams went 4-0 during the weekend’s pool play.

Offense wasn’t an issue for either team in the high-scoring contest - MASH 15U Vocca had 10 hits and Top Tier 2024 finished with nine. These two teams featured arguably the weekend's deepest lineups with talented athletes scattered from top to bottom.

Top Tier 2024 got off to a hot start, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. Logan Gale (Conant HS, IL, 2024) had multiple hits during the game, with the first being an opposite field line drive to put his team up 3-0. MASH 15U Vocca answered in the bottom of the first with two runs of their own. Jack Anderson (Providence Academy, MN, 2024) had a line drive single to score a run. Anderson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the game.

After a quick second inning, the offenses heated up again in the third inning. Parker Violett (Kaneland HS, IL, 2024) had a home run to start the scoring. The rally continued on two outs with a double from Brandon Schultz (Stevenson HS, IL, 2024) that scored three.

The scoring continued in the bottom of the inning when MASH 15U Vocca’s Riley Leatherman (Wayzata HS, MN, 2024) and Jack Morris (Shakopee HS, MN, 2024) had hits to score four runs. Going into the bottom of the sixth down 11-8, they scored four more runs to take a late lead. Anderson’s second and final hit of the game was a double to right field that scored two.

In the top of the seventh, Top Tier 2024 responded with two runs to go up 13-12. Both runs came on a single to center by Eloy Suarez (Hoffman Estates, IL, 2024). Suarez led the Top Tier 2024 offense, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run. The Illinois State commit built off his already impressive day after homering earlier in the semi-final contest.

Caleb Koskie (Benilde St. Margaret’s HS, MN, 2024) tied the game at 13 with a line drive. The back-and-forth battle was decided on a walk-off single by J.D. Dobis (St. Thomas Academy, MN, 2024).

For MASH 15U Vocca, Carson Spelman pitched 3.2 innings, striking out three with one earned run. Luke Oblen (DePaul College Prep HS, IL, 2024) impressed on the mound for Top Tier 2024. In 2.2 innings, Oblen struck out four.
