This weekend, the PBR CA staff is hosting the PBRT California Summer Championships in Irvine, CA. The tournament features over 30 teams with plenty of talent from a variety of grad classes throughout the state.

Yesterday, we highlighted the top performers from Day 1. Read below for notes on some of the top performers from Day One of the event.

QUICK HITS

Gavin Flores RHP / 1B / JSerra, CA / 2025

Physical 6-foot-2, 195-pound athlete that moves well down the bump. Flores got to toe-the-rubber on Friday and put together an impressive performance. His mid-80s fastball flashed carry up in the zone, and he showed confidence in his low-70s slider. To go along with his pitching prowess, Flores has added three hits at the plate through two games. He will be at LakePoint next week to represent California at the PBR Future Games.

Troy Trejo SS / Notre Dame, CA / 2027

Listed at 5-foot-11 and 160-pounds, Trejo provided our staff with an athletic look at the plate yesterday. The left-handed hitting middle infielder recorded a multi-hit performance, including an RBI triple. He has a short, compact stroke with impressive bat speed for his age. Trejo produced consistent hard contact and drove in multiple runs on the day.

Kaden Jung RHP / South, CA / 2026

Jung stands at a lean and projectable 5-foot-10, 150-pounds and is an athletic mover down the hill. His three-pitch-mix kept opposing hitters on their toes and guessing all day. He showed control of a low-80s fastball, with his firmest pitch clocking in at 83 mph. Jung displayed feel for his breaking ball, landing it for strikes. He also flashed a changeup that showed the makings of a third reliable option for his repertoire.

Kade Gaeir RHP / RHP / Granite Hills, CA / 2024

6-foot, 210-pounds with a thick lower half. Currently uncommitted and sits within the top-150 in the California's 2024 rankings. Gaeir kept opposing hitters off-balanced by mixing in a healthy dose of cutting fastballs and sliders. He dominated a talented lineup, and opposing batters had no clue what pitch was coming next.

Orlando Gutierrez

JR

1B / West Ranch, CA / 2026

Lean and projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. Gutierrez moves with athleticism down the bump. He showed well yesterday with a high-70s fastball that topped out at 81 mph. He also spun a pair of breaking balls, both that he landed for strikes. The soon-to-be sophomore cruised through three innings of work, finishing with four punchouts.
