PBRT Florida Fall Open, Takeaways: Top 2024 Prospects

By PBRT Staff

From Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, Prep Baseball Tournaments held the PBRT Florida Fall Open at IMG Academy’s baseball complex in Bradenton, Fla. This event was separated into two divisions, an Upperclass (2024 and 2025 classes) and an Underclass (2026 and 2027 classes), with 33 teams participating in the tournament across the two divisions.

Florida Burn’s 2024 Scout Team claimed the tournament’s Upperclass trophy, while Ostingers Baseball Academy’s 2026 (Macaluso) squad earned the Underclass title.

On Monday, we highlighted some of the Uncommitted Upperclassmen – one of whom has since committed already – at the tournament, and today we’ll be underscoring the top upperclassmen overall, regardless of their commitment status. The list below blends prospect status with on-field performance at the PBRT Florida Fall Open.

TOP 2024 PERFORMERS

BLAKE LARSONLHP / IMG ACADEMY, FL / 2024

Despite allowing four runs in his outing over the weekend, while battling some control issues, Larson's arm talent is simply elite. The TCU recruit was up to 96 mph from the left side on Friday night and he paired it with a biting slider that he spun at over 2,600 rpm, in the 77-79 mph range. Larson still managed to punch out six batters across three imperfect innings, but his electric upside is still too enticing to keep from atop this list following the weekend.
