- Palmetto Legion Invitational - Quick Hits - Day 1 -

Greenwood Post 20 vs. Concord Post 51

Greenwood Post 20 - 14
Concord Post 51 - 9

- Game one of the P.L.I. saw the boys from Greenwood square off with the boys from Concord (NC). In a back and forth affair Greenwood went up 5-0 in the top of the first and then Concord answered by taking the lead 8-5 after 3. Greenwood would answer and score 4 in the 4th, 3 in the 6th, and 2 in the 7th to pull away and win this one 14-9.

- Prospect Notes -

Matthew Ellis (OF, Abbeville, 2020) - The lean OF showed off his discipline at the plate working two walks and had a stolen base. He is a good runner with even better future potential. The swing at the plate can get long at times as evident by his strike out in his 4th AB. Athletically he has upside with a frame that will carry additional weight and continue to mature. His OF routes are clean and he runs quietly with a smooth gate. He wasn't tested in this game in the OF. Winthrop recruit.

Luke Poole (OF, Greenwood, 2019) - A long slender profile with upside. Showed flashes of barrel lag and a strong lower half capable of trending the gap to gap power up. His low line drive approach may evolve into a power hitting mindset. He is a good runner with above avg first step quickness and speed that will play at the next level. Throws from the outfield showed moderate to above avg carry. Erskine signee.

Adam Wilkerson (OF, Hickory Ridge NC, 2021) - Medium athletic frame. Has a middle approach at the plate with a quiet swing that often puts the barrel on the ball. Swing trends towards line drives and will be aided by his above avg. speed, if not first step, underway. Walked and singled twice from the two hole, reaching 3 times and scoring a run for his team.

Maven Parker (RHP/IF, Concord NC, 2019) - Strong lower half and squared shoulders. Quick arm off the mound with erratic command for stretches, settled in and showed off a nice slider with 10/4 shape. Solid ambush and elevate approach at the plate generating above avg bat speed with a lofted path. Power potential at the plate. Surry CC signee.

Jose Vargas (SS, Hickory Ridge NC, 2019) -  Medium frame with a proportional build and prototypical middle infielders profile. Reached on a walk twice and picked up a hit. Smooth actions in the infield and athletic ability will help him stick on the left side of the infield at the next level. Catawba Valley CC signee.

Sumter Post 15 vs. Pitt County Post 39

 Pitt County Post 39 - 3
Sumter Post 15 - 7

- The Sumter Post 15 Legion team got a strong start from Jacob Holladay and some quality executed small ball to top Pitt County. Sac Bunt, Safety Squeeze, Stealing Home, all of these strategic baseball plays were on display tonight in a game that didn't start until 9:25 pm. Scoring in the first two innings help the P15er's settle into a groove and a big 3 run 5th inning put the game out of reach.

- Prospect Notes -

Jacob Holladay (RHP, Sumter, 2019) - Compact frame with flashes of quick twitch movements. The arm works with a quick and clean take away to a high 3/4 release. FB showed wiggle at times at 80-81 t82 in the first and settled in between 77-80 later on. Showed a solid 3 pitch mix with a 68 mph CB and a 70-71 mph CH. Impressive gamer mentality. USC Sumter signee.

Jackson Hoshour (OF, Sumter, 2020) - Lengthy limbs and rounded shoulders. Rangy OF took two extra base hits away from Pitt County by covering staggering amounts of ground in CF. Hit tool will need some polishing to reach his ceiling but the body projects, he runs well, and makes the CF position look easy.

Tray Yates (OF, Sumter, 2019) - Strong build with a small/medium profile. Runs well with aggressive gate and strong lower half. Picked up 3 hits and ranged in the outfield to make several catches. Noted was the energy he played with, high energy player who seems to give each play his best effort. Florence Darlington Tech signee.

Shane Rademacher (1B/OF, Junius H Rose, 2019) - Large frame with square shoulders and torso. Calm approach at the plate with pull side tendencies. Lofted LH bat path releases the barrel through contact. Also showed a good eye by not expanding the zone and drawing two walks.

Anthony Saieed (SS, Junius H Rose/Pitt Community College, 2018) - Medium build with quality actions at the SS position. Quick hands and solid avg arm strength played well when tested multiple times. Simple approach at the plate singled and then showed a flash of pop driving the CF back on a deep fly out.
