Perfect Timing: Fall Instructional League

By Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

There was 39 players in attendance for Perfect Timing’s first week of Fall Instructs with several good players in attendance. The rain may have been the winner of the day, limiting the day to indoor only. As it goes inside, hitting was the main focus.

Here is a rundown of the top 2015 and 2016 from the event.

Zach Stanely, OF, Har-Ber HS, 2015

6-2, 185-pound OF from Springdale Har-Ber. A plus runner running a 6.5 in the 60. He showed solid defensive mechanics and an above average arm. Offensively he has some raw power with fast bat speed and a solid lower half. He stays to the baseball and has the ability to hit the ball to both gaps. Balance will be key for him to develop into a consistent hitter, but the frame, strength and athleticism make me think he can get there.

Micheal Keen, INF, Har-Ber HS, 2016

5-10, 170-pound INF from Springdale Har-Ber, showed plenty of upside on Saturday. Defensively he has soft hands and a clean exchange. Offensively out of a tall stance he throws barrel with good bat-speed and finds barrel on a consistent bases.Keen was rotational in his pull rounds. I do not see it as a swing flaw more as a young hitter trying to do too much. His opposite field round were short and compact.

Others that stood out left-handed hitting OF Caleb Gray ( 2015 Har-Ber HS), RHP John Boushelle (2015 Fayetteville HS). Underclassmen Jackson Sloan ( 2016 Fayetteville HS) and Cole Strange ( 2016 Fayetteville).
