Player Spotlight- 2019 Cole Evans- PBR Future Games



This one-of-a-kind event will feature the best uncommitted Class of 2019 prospects and select 2020 prospects from our 30-plus state coverage area. The Future Games will take place on August 2 - August 5 (Thursday-Saturday) at Grand Park, a state-of-the-art 22-field baseball complex located in Westfield, IN, just north of Indianapolis.

The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is the premier summer scouting event for Class of 2019 prospects and select 2020 prospects. Last year, more than 130 colleges from all over the country were in attendance. The Prep Baseball Report services are subscribed by more than 700 colleges and pro scouts.

Every player in the PBR Future Games will be outfitted in adidas uniform, cleats and hat. Players will also receive maximum visibility from college coaches all over the country, in addition to being promoted through the Prep Baseball Report multimedia platforms. 

On Wednesday, all position players will be put through a showcase workout in which they will run 60s, take batting practice and be evaluated at their primary position. Each state team will play three games beginning on Thursday.

Scouting Report

2/20/17- 6-foot, 190-pound shortstop ran a 5.12 40-yard sprint. Physical build, present strength in upper half. Slightly crouched square stance, rhythmic leg kick trigger, low hand set, loose uphill barrel path. Shows gap power when timing is right. Posted an exit velocity of 87 mph off a tee. Advanced actions in both the infield and outfield. Above avg. arm for his age. Strong follow for the 2019 class in Nebraska.

5/22/16- 6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop that ran a 7.56 60 yard sprint. Mature approach and actions for a 2019 graduate. Balanced stance with compact swing plane with some lift. Hands stay inside the baseball with good pop. In the field is fundamentally sound with advanced footwork and soft hands. Quick release from a variety of arm slots and 79 mph velocity across the infield. Good actions in the outfield with accurate online throws to the catcher from a high ¾ arm slot. Potential to be one of the top 2019 prospects in Nebraska as he continues to develop.

1/18/16 - Evans is an athletic 6-foot 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Nebraska’s 2019 class.  He got down the line in 4.47-seconds and has an exit velo of 79 mph.  Evans has an aggressive swing, no wasted movement in load, starts in balanced position at the plate, short stride, quick hands, swing produced line drives to the middle/pull side of cage. On the infield, 79 mph positional velo, athletic footwork with soft hands, accurate throw with momentum through the catch, athletic actions, clean arm action. In the outfield, 77 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, quick feet, clean exchange, plays through the catch, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, fastball at 75-78 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape at 60-66 mph, change-up at 71-72 mph. Over the top release, throws downhill, glove raises with leg lift, hands separate on time, body stays under control, stride is inline.
