Player Spotlight: Columbia Academy 2016 RHP Scott Lentz

Scott Lentz, RHP, Columbia Academy, 2016

At 6-foot, 175 pounds, Lentz has a medium build with room to add to his frame.  His mechanics are smooth, easy and repeatable, and he uses shorter arm action through an over the top arm slot. Lentz’s fastball sits 74-77 with slight arm-side run, and his curveball is 64-67 with tight spin.  While not overpowering, he shows good pitchability in being able to work the strike zone on both sides of the plate with both pitches.  He also shows good awareness on the mound with the ability to affect the oppositions run game with varied looks and a quick move to the plate out of the stretch.  With the addition of a changeup, Lentz should be able to increase his effectiveness, and he still has two years of high school baseball to develop additional arm strength.
