Player Spotlight: Adam DeLaet (Lakota East HS)

Adam DeLaet, 2B/MIF, Lakota East HS

Having a 70 foot batting cage in your backyard has many advantages.  Lakota East’s Adam DeLaet, can be seen hitting at home for hours at a time during the spring and summer.

“My work ethic and my knowledge of the game are definitely my strengths.  I'll spend a couple of hours a day hitting off of the tee and practicing footwork.”

His hard work and determination have helped him set high standards for the future.  “Definitely my work ethic and my knowledge of the game.  I have a 70 foot batting cage in my back yard and once it gets warm I'll spend a couple of hours a day hitting off of the tee and practicing footwork.”

The middle infielder has already attended a few of PBR’s camps and showcases.  Adam has gained a lot of attention from attending these events.

“I've had tons of interest from the two PBR camps that I've been to.  Both showcases were top notch with plenty coaches and scouts.”

Check out what PBR has to say about Adam:

DaLaet projects as a second baseman at the next level. In the field, he shows a high 3/4 arm slot while reaching a velocity of 77 mph across the infield. He will only continue to improve defensively as his footwork and exchange become more fluid. At the plate, the left-handed hitting prospect uses an open stance with a short stride. The line-driving hitter shows good balance and short path to the ball. He registered a 7.34 time with the 60-yard dash.

Adam is actively talking to the following schools: Central Michigan, Evansville, Kent State, High Point University and schools from around the Cincinnati area.

DaLaet currently has a GPA of 3.3 and he will graduate with Honors.  Because he is only a junior, Adam is in no hurry to make a college decision.

Last high school season he hit .380 with 6 doubles and a couple of triples.  While, in the summer his stats grew even higher with an average of .412 with an OBP of .473 and slugging of .517.

This summer will be Adam’s 5th season with the Cincy Flames.  They are planning on playing tournament in the following cities: Cincinnati, Columbus, Louisville, Indianapolis and the University of Notre Dame.
