We take a quick glimpse at a few of the more intriguing Matchups early-week playoff match-ups coming up as we get closer to championships.

MIAA

Archbishop Curley v Loyola Blakefield
The defending champs take on the regular season champs in what should an exciting battle.

John Carroll v Gilman
A fantastic season for Carroll  hopes to continue as they face off against a pesky opponent in Gilman, who is a tough team to play come playoff time.

Calvert Hall v Archbishop Spalding
Nothing like this heated rivalry matching back up. This is an elimination game and both sides would feel some joy on their season sending the loser home.

4A

Dulaney v Howard
A game of similar teams as both have offensive balance from top to bottom and a potent lineup. Pitching as always will play the key.

Sherwood v Urbana
A top season in Montgomery county for Sherwood now face off against Urbana just an hour up the road. Might be my favorite match-up coming up tomorrow.

B-CC v Churchill
Churchill has been continuing to play better and better as the season progressed, this is going to be a tough match-up for the Barons.

Arundel v Severna Park
These rivals square up for the fourth time this season, with SP holding a 2-1 advantage. Never a dull moment, this game should continue the trend of exciting and memorable performances.

Leonardtown v North Point
The SMAC runner-ups are the favorite, but do not count out fellow SMAC member North Point.

CH Flowers v Roosevelt
This more than likely will determine who will rep the south in the State tournament in this game of PG's top two teams this spring.

3A

Thomas Johnson v Linganore
Another interesting match-up with Frederick County foes squaring off.

Stephen Decatur v Chesapeake
Decatur this time gets to host an Arundel county opponent, and this should be a fun one to watch against Chesapeake. Chesapeake has had an up and down season but never count out the Cougars in the Playoffs.

Huntingtown v Great Mills
Great Mills have alrady pulled off the biggest upset of the MPSSAA thus far with their 1-0 defeat of Chopticon. Can they make it two in a row against the Hurricanes?

2A

Walkersville v Williamsport
Williamsport had a bit of an upset defeating Damascus and look to continue that trend. Walkersville have already handily defeated the defending 3A champions Poolesville.

La Plata v Patuxent
Although the Champions are the favorite, they did drop a game to Patuxent at La Plata, wich is where they play today.

1A

Boonsboro v Catoctin
Though Boonsboro is the favorite, do not count out Catoctin. They have nice talent on the squad and are a fun team to watch. They have the ability to put added pressure on opposing defenses and make them think.

The 1A East
All four teams have potential to take the crown in the 1A in by far the most heated Region in this class. Flip a coin between Colonel Richardson, Patterson Mill, St. Michaels, and Snow Hill.
