Pre-Season Preview: Mt. Pleasant HS (Saginaw Valley)

By Mike Penn
Michigan Scouting Director

Its hard to believe that when you finish conference play with a 15-3 record that you would not win your conference, but that is exactly what happened to Mt. Pleasant last season.  Midland and Bay City Western both finished tied for first leaving Mt. Pleasant on the outside looking in.  However, Mt. Pleasant still had an incredibly successful campaign finishing with a final record of 31-8 in 2012.

This year will be interesting for Head Coach Luke Epple.  They return talented senior Danny Pulver to the Daniel Pulver looks to lead Mt. Pleasant in 2013. lineup. Pulver is an athletic third baseman with a strong arm and soft hands.  He should provide the offensive and defensive leadership for Mt. Pleasant.

Pulver will be joined by a young group of juniors:

Robert Backas (2B/SS)Aaron Leasher (P/1B/Out)  Dean Marais (1B/P/3B)Andrew Dickinson (3B/P)

Joe Genia (OF/P)

Out of those juniors Aaron Leasher will provide a left-hand arm on the mound. Leasher is a developing pitcher that shows some promise moving forward.  It will be exciting to see how he progresses.

2013 will prove to be a challenging year in conference as Midland and Bay City Western return a solid core of players.  But with a strong history and tradition, don't count out Mt. Pleasant.
