Prep Baseball Report Fall Wrap Up

By Jeff Markle

Assistant State Director of Scouting

Prep Baseball Colorado wrapped up its fall program on Sunday October 19th with a Fall Prospect ID showcase at Dakota Ridge High School.  This event put a cap on a very successful fall program that gave quality instruction and multiple playing opportunities to face high caliber talent and to build skills in preparation for the spring season.

Elite Team:  This team was comprised of players from 2015-2017 from all over the Front Range.  The Elite team’s goals were skill development and exposure to college coaches and professional scouts.  This team participated in:

Slammers Labor Day Tournament:  Elite Colorado tournament featuring the top players in the state and surrounding states.  Attended by multiple Colleges and Professional Scouts.

Prep Baseball Report Top Prospect Games:  This event was held at Cherry Creek High School and participants had two days of skill showcase and two days of games.  Over 40 players participated in the event and 7 different colleges were in attendance.

Prep Baseball Report Southern Colorado Prospect Games:  This two-day event took place at the United States Air Force Academy.  Players took part in two days of skill evaluation and played two 9 inning games in front of USAF coaches.

Adams State Tournament:  The Elite Team traveled to Alamosa to play 3 games, beating Colorado Instructional League twice and played a tough game against Adams State all in front of the Grizzlies Staff.

Prep Baseball Report Fall Prospect ID:  This event, held at Dakota Ridge High School was attended by over 30 players and was used to evaluate individuals for identification to national PBR events including the Super 60 and Mid-West Futures Games.

When the dust settled from this fall, the Elite Team had played in 5 high profile events in front of a combination of 40+ college coaches and professional scouts.  In addition to these events, the Elite Team played a six 9 inning games against local fall teams.  The level of exposure and interest in these players achieved exactly what PBR was out to do this fall.

Instructional Team:  This team was made up of 2017 & 2018 players from, Dakota Ridge, Chatfield, Columbine, D’Evelyn and Highlands Ranch.  The Instructional team played a 16 game fall schedule in the Cherokee Trail Fall league and developed their skills and gained plenty of confidence heading into this spring.  In addition to the fall league, the Instructional Team players also showcased their skills at the Fall Prospect ID and compared with their tryout numbers, saw a nice increase in measurable skills.  These players will move up next year to form a 2017-2018 Elite Team and receive a high level of exposure at multiple showcases and prospect games.

Prep Baseball Report is already working hard to put together showcases and prospect games for next fall.  If you are interested in joining our email information list to learn about playing opportunities, please contact:
