The Salpointe Catholic Lancers are coming off of a great season where they lost in the 4A championship, to Canyon Del Oro by a score of 7-6. The Lancers have some notable returners from last year’s team, one of them being Arizona commit Gunnar Geile. Geile is the #5 ranked player in the 2024 class, and was an attendee at this year's Preseason All State Games where he hit a homerun during gameplay over the right center field wall. In Geile’s sophomore season he hit .295 with 5 doubles, 3 home runs and 13rbi’s in just 44 at bats. We predict that Gunnar will be an everyday guy in the outfield this spring and will play a major role in the Lancers offense. While we don’t know whether or not he will be in the outfield or behind the plate, Jose Simon played a major role with the bat in his sophomore season. Simon hit .329 with 7 doubles, 2 homeruns and a team second best with 22 rbi's. On the mound for the Lancers we see senior Diego Garcia leading the charge. In his Junior year Garcia in 14 appearances had a 5-2 record with a 2.55 era which was a team best amongst the Junior class. Some players to keep an eye on this spring for the Lancers are 2025 grads Aciel Guillen and Lucas Shannon. Both prospects attended our Tucson Open event last fall and were major standouts amongst the rest of the group. We see Guillen working his way into the infield this spring for the Lancers, and Shannon playing a major role on the mound. While the Lancers are only returning 4 position players and 1 pitcher this spring the Arizona staff feels strongly that with young talent, they could make another run to the state title game.
