Solon High School’s baseball program won’t just be missing Matt Smoral, the number 50 overall pick by the Toronto Blue Jays.

After finishing the 2012 season with a 16-11 record, the Comets only return two players in their everyday starting lineup as well as two pitchers in their rotation. Playing in the tough Northeast Ohio Conference, Coach Kopkas’ squad will be tested against the likes of Mayfield, Hudson, and Twinsburg.

Class of 2013

  • 1B/3B/RHP, Brad Cisar – The 6-foot-4, 200-pound left-handed hitting prospect hit .397 with 17 RBI and a .515 slugging percentage last season.
  • IF/RHP, Nick Gordon – The 5-foot-10, 173-pound senior will provide solid defense in the infield.
  • IF/OF/RHP, Jesse Keckler – The 5-foot-11, 170-pound senior is an above average hitter who also battles on the mound

Class of 2014

  • 1B/LHP, Mitch Sutyak – The 6-foot-1, 220-pound prospect should see significant time on the varsity squad this spring.

Class of 2015

  • IF/OF, Kevin Gersey – The 5-foot-10, 140-pound sophomore shows plenty of athleticism and raw skills.

Class of 2016

  • 1B/LHP, Nate Altstadt – The 6-foot-4, 200-pound lefty will contribute early in his high school career.
