This was a back and forth affair between the Thomas Dale Knights and the Prince George Royals, but it was Prince George that would rally back to score three unanswered and walk it off in the seventh with a Michael Dolberry line drive single.

Thomas Dale sophomore Caleb Stancil would go against the Royals’ senior right-hander Emilio Story. In the 1st Story would work around a Camden Weston single to get out of the inning not allowing any damage by Thomas Dale. In the bottom of the first Stancil would use a 4-6-3 double play by Weston and Rodriguez to shut down the running game of Quincy Sippio and the Royals.

Scoring would start in the 2nd as the Knights managed back to back singles and a walk to load the bases up for the Knights. Chris Fredette would hit a sac fly to right field to make it 1-0 and one pitch later Karson Jennings would score on a first and third play making it 2-0 in favor of Dale. Stancil would issue a leadoff walk to start the bottom of the 2nd, but would get the next three in order accumulating two strikeouts along the way.

It wasn’t until the bottom of the third that Prince George would answer and it would come from the bat of junior VMI commit Jacob Farrar. Farrar would hit a two out two strike pitch to the shortstop Rodriquez, who couldn’t handle it as it went into shallow left and would score the runners from second and third making it 2-2.

Top of the 4th the Knights would answer with the help of some defensive miscues by Prince George and a timely Raphael Rodriquez single that would make it 5-2 in favor of Dale. Royals’ sophomore Dylan Bowen would help PG answer in the bottom half with a hard line drive back through the middle that would score two making it 5-4 Dale.

After a bases loaded walk in the top of 5th making it 6-4 Dale, Royals’ junior Trent Steward would hit a game-tying two-run shot to deep right center to tie it up at 6-6. After both teams threatened to no avail, we would head to the bottom of seventh tied up 6-6. The Royals would load the bases with two outs and with a 3-2 count Dolberry hit a hard line drive over the second baseman to walk it off for the Royals, taking their record to 4-0 on the season.

Stancil threw four innings, allowing three earned runs, five strikeouts, and only walked one.

Story threw five innings for Prince George, scattering six hits, and allowing two earned.
