Q and A with 2015 Ohio State Commit: Braun Miller (Sandusky Perkins HS)

Braun Miller, LHP, Sandusky Perkins HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose OSU?

Miller: I chose OSU because it felt like home. Ohio State had a tremendous amount of great things to offer. The coaching staff, program, facilities and much more were overwhelming and produce players for the next level, and I want to be a part of their success in the near future.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Miller:I was considering Ohio University, University of Cincinnati, Michigan State, and Michigan.

PBR: Where did Coach Beals first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Miller: One of my PBR fall prospect program stops was at Ohio State. This is where Coach Beals first saw me and as time progressed Coach Stafford made a visit to Sandusky and watched a bullpen. Our relationship developed through email and phone calls with the coaching staff.

PBR: You are only a Junior and you have made your commitment very early. Why did you chose to make your decision so soon and are you finished with the recruiting process?

Miller: I am done with the recruiting process and I made this decision so early because it reached out to me and pulled me in. Everything offered was fantastic and I believe it is the right place for me to be.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Miller: The coaches plan on me to be a weekday starter and to learn and progress from the upperclassmen as they move towards the draft.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?

Miller: I play for American Legion Post 83 from Sandusky, Ohio. My most memorable moment was going down to the American Legion State tournament spending a week with my team and waking up everyday ready to play baseball.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Miller: I expected the recruiting process to be hard but a good time. Mine all hit me at one time which was overwhelming but I grasped it and continued to make the right choice when I felt it was the right time.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Miller: Friends and family. Without them pushing me through rough times I wouldn't be where I’m at today. They support me at every game and no matter what will continue to be by my side.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Sandusky Perkins?

Miller: 12 G, 38 IP, 169 BF, 33 H, 11 R, 7 ER, 1.29 ERA, 14 BB, 36 SO, 7-0 WL

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Miller: Austin Hancock from Defiance High School. He has a great eye and doesn't allow pitches to be thrown past him.
