OUR Q&A

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

DuerWhen talking to people, they always made it seem like it was stressful and hard to be put out there. Getting to talk to different coaches and finding the fit for me was a lot. I was looking for a school that wanted to win and compete at the highest level.

PDid location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

DIt did, my parents did so much for me during my career and I wanted them to enjoy games and be close to home.

PWhen did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

DThe recruiting process started my sophomore year, it started heating up after my first PBR event in Melissa TX. I got on the phone with TCU a week after but it was right when COVID-19 hit which caused problems with watching me play.

PWhat do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

DThe environment, the coaches, players, and facilities are all awesome and have a winning mentality.

PWhat other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

DDBU XAVIER University of Miami and Whichita State University

PWho is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

DI have to give it to my future teammate Ben Abeldt. Being a lefty hitter seeing him from the left side is one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced.

PAt what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

DMy sophomore year being the only sophomore on a varsity baseball team. I had a feeling that with hard work I can get to where I dreamed to be.

PWhat advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

DDon’t stress and rush anything. Play your game and be yourself, everything will make its way to you. Don’t stop working towards your dreams and keep your drive.

PWhat is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

DPlaying At Globe Life Field and beating IMG academy who was undefeated for 3 years at the time.

PPreview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

DI think our Marcus team will excel offensively, pitching wise we will be lights out… it will be a fun season.
