SoCal Diamond Notes 3/11/19 - 3/17/19

The following players had impressive performances during the week of March 11-March 17, and though not selected as Player of the Week, they earned special recognition. Players are listed in no particular order.

2019 OF/LHP - Joe Naranjo - Ayala HS - A Cal State Fullerton Commit, Naranjo went

6 IP with 1 H, 1ER, 1BB, 6Ks and a perfect game through 5.2 IP. At the plate he was 4-for-9 with 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 RBIs, 3R.

2019 Kolton Freeman - Laguna Beach HS - Freeman went 4-for-7 with 4 RBIs, 3 R, 2 2B and a HR.

2019 LHP/1B Cutter Clawson - Laguna Beach HS - A BYU commit, he went 3-for-6 with a HR and 3 RBIs. He earned the win in 5.1 IP with 3 Ks.

2019 1B/3B Tyler Chaffee - Cypress HS - The uncommitted senior was 4-for-6 with 4 2B, 4 RBI and 3 R. During the 2-1 win on Tuesday, he had the game winning RBI with a 2B down the LF line. He was 3-for-3 on Wednesday with a BB and 3 H, 3 RBI, and 3 2B setting a school record with 4 consecutive doubles.

2019 Daniel Rosell - La Sierra HS - He went 4-for-6 with 3 2B and 2 RBIs. On the mound he threw 6 IP with 7 Ks and 5 H to earn the win.

2019 P Robert Chagolla - La Sierra HS - He went 7 IP to earn the win with 8 Ks, 4 H, and 1 ER.

2019 OF Jasiah Dixon - Orange Lutheran HS - The USC commit went 6-for-11 vs Santa Margarita with 2 RBIs, 4 R, and a SB.

2019 RHP Jonathan Guzman - Orange Lutheran HS - The SDSU Commit threw a CG vs Santa Margarita using only 78 pitches while allowing 1 H and registering 5 Ks, and 1 BB.

2019 P Eric Fritzsch - Tri-City Christian HS - Fritzsch threw a CG to earn the win vs Rancho Christian with 0 ER 4 H, and 6Ks. He had the Save vs Mt Carmel with 1 IP and 1K. He also threw a CG and 3-hit shutout vs Orange Glen. He has 9Ks and a 0.00 ERA for the season.

2019 RHP Gavin Kennedy - Ocean View HS - A Cal State Fullerton commit, he threw 7 IP for a complete game, 1 hit shutout against Segerstrom. He was also 5-for-11 with 3 R and 5 RBIs.

2019 3B Theo Forshey - Redondo Union HS - The senior UC Santa Barbara commit went 4-for-7 with 3 R, and 5 RBI's including his first HR of the season.

2019 C Davis Cop - Valencia HS - The uncommitted senior went 7-for-13 with 7 RBIs, 7 R, 3 2B, 6 SB, and 2 BB.

2021 P Jayson Bittner - Rancho Mirage HS - The uncommitted senior threw a 66 P no hitter with 2 Ks, 1 BB, amd 1 HBP, throwing 13 first pitch strikes and 64% of pitches for strikes. He also led Rancho Mirage to their first ever victory over Shadow Hills in program history.

2019 OF Garret Monheim - West Ranch HS - The UCSB Commit was 5-for-7 during 3 games, with 4 BB, 4 R, and 4 RBIs.

2020 Logan Abbey - Villa Park HS - The junior went 4-for-6 with 1 2B, 2 R, ans 6 RBIs.

2019 SS Andrew Villarreal - Temescal Canyon HS - The uncommitted senior hit the game tying single, and drove in the game winning run against Valley View to help lead the team to a win. For the week he had 4 H, 10 AB, and 1 SB. For the season he is hitting .312 with 3 RBIs, 4 BB, and 3 SB.

2019 RHP Jose Rodriguez - University HS - He had 5.1 IP with 3 ER in relief vs. Beckman.

2019 LHP Anthony Romero - Mayfair HS - He had 8 IP, 0 ER, 1 W, 1 SV, 5 Ks, 9 H, 1 BB.

2019 SS Chase Meidroth - Mira Costa HS - A USD Commit, he went 7-for-11 at the plate and scored 7 R, 1 2B, 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, 2SB and three webgems in 3 games.

2019 SS Robbie Treto - St. Genevieve HS - The Cal Lutheran commit went 9-for-14 with 3 BBs, 8 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, including a grand slam, 9 RBIs, 2 SB, and 1 K. He pitched 4.2 innings picking up a loss, with 6 H, 3 ER, 7 Ks, and 3 BBs.

2019 RHP Julian Aguiar - Millikan HS - A Long Beach State Commit, he pitched 5.1 innings to pick up a Moore League win against Lakewood. He had 9Ks, 3 BB, and gave up 5 H and 1 ER.

2019 LHP/1B Spencer Rasmussen - Canyon HS - He went 4-for-6 with 4 R , 3 RBIs, 1 HR, and 2 2B.

2019 RHP William St Marseille - Canyon HS - He went 6 IP with 4 H, 3 Ks, and 0 ER to earn the win.

2020 SS Jacob Gonzalez - Glendora HS - An Ole Miss commit, he went 6-for-10 with 6 RBIs and a hit for the cycle in game against Colony.

2021 C/1B Mike Easter - Arcadia HS - The uncommitted sophomore dominated at the plate during 3 games where he went 4-for-8 with 6 RBI. He had a 2 run 3B against Arcadia that led them to a 4-1 win.

2020 RHP Preston Howey - Arcadia HS - As an uncommitted junior, Howey earned 2 wins last week bringing his record to 6-0 on the season. In the 2 games, Howey threw 7 IP, and allowed only 4 H with 11 Ks. .

2019 RHP Jesse Simon - Long Beach Poly - As an uncommitted senior he threw another CG Shutout in a 2-0 win over Moore League Rival, LB Wilson. He scattered 4 H, K's, 0 BB. That's 20 scoreless this season and 27 in a row including last year's playoff CG.

2019 INF Chris Murphy - Long Beach Poly - The uncommitted senior had a 3B and scored the tying run against Narbonne, and delivered a walk-off single in bottom of 11th. Against league rival, Wilson, he knocked in two hits, leading the team to a 2-0 victory.

2019 OF Kyle Morrell - El Dorado HS - The uncommitted senior went 5-for-8 with a HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, and 1 SB.

2020 OF/RHP Corbin Ellis - El Dorado HS - The uncommitted junior went 3-for-6 with 2 2B and 4 RBIs.

2020 INF/RHP Parker Haskell - El Dorado HS - An uncommitted junior, he went 2-for-5 with a 2B and 2 RBIs. On the mound he went 5 IP with only 2 runs allowed to earn the win vs Canyon.

2019 1B Blake Morton - Edison HS - The uncommitted senior went 4-for-8 with 1 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI, and 2 HBP.

2019 RHP/1B Matt Swartz - Edison HS - The Stanford commit went 1-0 throwing 2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the W at Los Al. He improved to 2-0 for the season with 1 ER in 12.1 IP this season and a 0.57 ERA.
