State Championship Preview: 1A

The 1A State Championship will be decided on Friday May 20^th at 3:00 pm on the campus of the University of Arkansas and the prestigious Baum Stadium. This match up features two teams from the 2-1A regional with Armorel High School playing Viola.

In their meeting two weeks ago, Armorel won 6-4, receiving a complete game by Nash Winters who through 7 innings, allowing just 1 earned run scattering 8 hits while striking out 4. Regional play is different than the state tournament. The regional final was 3 games in 4 days.

Viola is 30-2 and will look to avenge their rare regional loss. This is a veteran group starting 7 upperclassmen. They look to bring home the third state baseball title back to Viola. The first state title since 1999.

Armorel is in a familiar spot, playing their last game at Baum Stadium. They return as they defending champions defeating Taylor in the finals last year. Looking to secure the schools 4 state title all in the past 10 years.
