TN High School Team Preview: Gordonsville Tigers

PBR Tennessee Staff

The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Tigers are coming off a 1A state tournament appearance where they went 1-2 and were eliminated by runner up McKenzie. They return a good chunk of their roster from last season with a lot of experience. They’ll have three upperclass arms to help them return to the Spring Fling lead by ‘24 RHP/INF Kyle Adams, who recorded 9 wins and 98 strikeouts. ‘23 RHP/1B Conner Glover emerged as the number two last Spring and pounds the zone with a three pitch mix. The Tigers will also look for the return of ‘24 RHP/UTL Sam Albritton, who was limited by injury, but should help provide depth on the mound and hit in the middle of the order. ‘23 INF/RHP Peyton Climer returns and will anchor the defense while hitting towards the top of the order. Climer is considered the best defensive player and also can put pressure on the base paths with 33 stolen bases last year. ‘24 C/RHP Tristan Wood returns behind the dish and can also play all over the field if needed. ‘24 1B/LHP Edward Rivera should anchor first base and looks to provide more depth on the mound. ‘24 OF Canaan Musgrove returns in CF and provides good speed/range. Keep an eye on ‘26 INF “J” Foster and ‘25 OF/1B Brodie Sykes, who both contributed last Spring. Gordonsville played a challenging schedule and swept through their district last year, so given the amount of returnees (especially up the middle), they’ll look to repeat in district seven as the favorites.
