TN High School Team Preview: Station Camp Bison

PBR Tennessee Staff

The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Bison last year fell victim to an absolutely logged jammed district as four teams were all knotted up towards the top. They ultimately went 1-2 in the district tournament and finished the year at 24-13. They were a bit on the younger side last season and return a majority of the roster while looking to further push towards the top of a challenging district 10AAAA. ‘24 RHP/SS Carter Casabella will be the lead man after earning district MVP honors as a sophomore as he’ll man shortstop and play a key role on the mound. He’ll be paired with seniors RHP Matthew Massey and RHP Grady Parsons, who should get looks for the next level this Spring. ‘25 RHP/UTL Nate Parsons will be a sophomore to watch as he got time as a freshman and will contribute as a two-way with mound upside. Positionally, they return ‘23 C Christian Pentecost behind the plate, who has a well rounded game, and ‘24 OF Noah Rice, who can track it in the outfield and be the top lefty bat. ‘24 CINF Tucker Smith and ‘24 MINF Brandon Gillespie will be a couple of juniors to follow that should round out the lineup. The Bison should feel strongly about their pitching and offensive situation with a chance to be very solid defensively in key positions. My gut feeling is this will be another tight district race, but Station Camp will certainly be in the mix for the top spot as ultimately postseason aspirations will come down to who is peaking at the right time around district tournament.
